I have a military family who is desperately looking for someone to foster one or both of their cats for 3-5 months starting the second weekend of April.

The cats are both males, Buddy and Romm and are neutered, indoor cats with all of their claws. The family is willing to have them combo tested again (all was negative 2 years ago) and all UTD on shots and exams before the foster period. The owners are willingto separate them if it's necessary...they seem to be willing to do just about anything to keep these two! The family is also supplying food and litter and medical care for these two. They are 5 and 6 years old, both Tuxies.

Please let me know ASAP if you can take at least one. I'd be able to take one of them if no one else can help, but I think 5 in my place is really, really pushing it. 4 is even pushing it, but maybe it would be ok for a couple months.

Have you had any offers yet? I wouldn't be the best choice, since as I foster other cats I do have a certain amount of risk. (My current foster is kept in a separate room, but they reach under the door some. And she never had any vaccinations.) And Garfield is herpes positive. But I think if they are generally healthy cats, and up to date on their shots, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Let me know if they don't get any help, and I'll talk to dh about it. My cats are pretty used to having "visitors" come and go! LOL!

Yeah, Heidi suggested someone, but I'm not sure if that worked out. Amber, the girl in question, just sent me another email yesterday.

Could you talk to DH about it and I'll give it another few days? Weekends are really busy at Tree House, so I'll see if any of our foster parents step up. If worst came to worst, I'd be able to take ONE of them, but it's probably not the world's best arrangement. As it is, I'm an "emergenc code red shelter overflow" fosterer, just because 500 sq. feet and 4 cats might not be the lowest stress environment there is

Emergency code red shelter overflow?? Here, it is just...hey honey, got a few more cats for a few months. And I throw down another litter box and a few more kibbles of cat chow!
My house is far from fancy, in fact will eventually be totally redone...but there are 5 bedrooms, and lots and lots of space to squeeze in a few more. Plus, we kind of keep our kitties out of the master bedroom, so if needed could quarantine newbies in there.

Have these boys been around dogs before? I have a large akita, and while she is good with cats, I wouldn't want to freak them out...since she does sleep in our room.

I'll talk to dh tonight, ok?

Sounds awesome...I'll check with Amber to see if her guys are ok with dogs.

THanks so much, Becky!
