When they are so little and newborn where do they go potty? Just in the bedding? And should I use a special type of litter for the little ones?

I feel stupid asking this but it just occurred to me tonight!

Thanks!

The mother will take care of it all
You can put a small box near them and when they are up and active and the mother is ready, she will teach them how to use the litterbox. Just make sure you have non-clumping, non-scented litter.

Yikes! Well, okay then. After eating placentas and body waste how is a cat the cleanest animal!

Thanks!

Because they don't leave it for us to take care of!
Actually, newborn kitten poop isn't gross at all. And my understanding is that in some cultures, when a woman delivers the baby there is a ritual surrounding cooking and eating the placenta. It's very high in nutrients. But it still sounds gross to me!

That's so funny about the other cultures thing...I was at the grocery store today (I am there almost everyday so they know me) and one of the clerks was telling me about that!

Did you also know that in some cultures women use the white coating from a newborn baby for their skin? I'll pass, thanks!

*shrug* Makes some sense to me...after all, who wouldn't want skin like a baby's?

It's true, though, that things we consider disgusting beyond belief are just normal in other places.

It is great for the skin...I know I was advised not to try to wash it off, but to gently rub it into the babies skin as a protectant!

As for kitten poop not being gross...I got pooped on this morning by a week old kitten...I thought it was pretty gross! My fault for trying to weigh them while they were nursing I guess! After wiping myself and the baby as best I could, I had to give it back to Momma for a proper clean up!

Last night I was at work and one of the "boys" is a senior in high school and he 6'5", 240 pounds (yes, he was a football player) Well, I started talking about the placentas and the baby poop and you have never seen a boy turn green so fast! It was definitely good for a chuckle!

My fiance gets really disgusted when I start talking about everything I"m preparing for, and preparing to do in case my help is needed. He says he will be gone that day. He has 3 events planned the day of and the day before she is due. If he's home, he'll be wherever she isn't. He'll love the kittens, just not the process!
