Sorry, new to the " having kittens" industry
.
Just wondering how long a cat is pregnant for? And also how long after conception will her nipples go pink? And from what age can they get pregnant?
One of my girls looks like her tummy is growing, but I dont know if it's cos she is very healthy, or pregnant. I cant see any other signs of pregnancy.
I guess I will just have to wait and see!

*grin* Glad to be of help, but just to make things a little more consistant ...

The normal period of gestation is 63 to 65 days with anywhere from 60 to 70 days not being abnormal in some cats/breeds. In some cats, the nipples will begin to "pink up" at around 2 to 3 weeks into the pregnancy.

They can get pregnant as young as 5 or 6 months, some younger, depending on how quickly they mature. They do NOT need to be in heat to get pregnant. As long as an intact male cat can catch them, even if they are unwilling, he will breed them.

You mentioned that you are "new to the " having kittens" industry" ... are you a breeder or caring for a pregnant cat? We would love to hear more about you and your kitties! And as always, pictures are more than welcomed here!

Gayef.. you are such a bundle of knowledge, thanks.
I am not a breeder, I just love cats and find it necessary to have them floating around the house, it feels like a home when you have them there. I love them to bits... and maybe caring for a pregnant cat... not really sure yet...but will let you know when I do..lol.
Will definiatly try to get some pictures on here, this is the best website ever, I am so stoked I found it. YAY :-)

Welcome, Turk. I am glad you are here.

*mentally visualizes cats floating around the house* I wish my cats would float ... I have a long, straight, hardwood-floor hallway (I affectionately refer to it as my Ranch-O-Rama Bowling Alley-Style Hallway *grin*) and when the cats get the crazies as they often do in the wee hours of the morning, I declare it sounds like a herd of African elephants are charging up and down that hallway. And of course, since several of the doors on that hallway are closed at all times, they go crashing into the doors (we call that particular noise "Cat Splat") and banging around all over the walls. This is what I hear each and every morning at oh-gosh-thirty AM. *smile*

Turk...have you thought about contacting a local shelter or rescue group about fostering a pregnant cat??

Hi,do you know what? I have never actually thought about it..(duh!! im such a dunce..lol) That kinda stuff is right up my alley.
I dont know what Hubby would have to say about it though, I have only just talked him into fostering young children, so I will have to work harder on him for fostering pregnant cats. His problem is, He says he doesnt like cats, but when we bring one home he is the one who gets attached the most...lol, he's a softy deep down.
Well we arent here to talk about him, but thatks for the good idea.
