Wow, I don't even have words for this!

That is so sad - simply unbelievable that someone would even do that!

What is this world coming too?!? What is wrong with some people?!? Was the man mentall unbalanced or something? It's so sad that is young man had to lose his life because he walked across his neighbours lawn.

It sounds like the guy just snapped. He had no previous history of violence, although the article did say the shooting followed a confrontation earlier that day and that he'd complained about teens trespassing in his yard before.

There's an editorial in today's paper that asks what could have been done to prevent the boy's death - maybe some kind of outside support, mediation services or a preventive call to police. It goes mentions how neighborhood disputes like this are growing uglier and how maybe this will be a wakeup call for people. It's a shame things had to come to this.

A FENCE would have done wonders to prevent this if this guy was that completely anal about his precious yard. (Unless, of course, the HOA said he can't have one because it would be unattractive. Hmmm, not quite as unattractive to the neighborhood as a murder...)

In reading the stories about this and hearing the 911 call, the man sounds very unbalanced. But then again, anyone who would shoot a kid because he walked across his lawn pretty much has to be unbalanced.

I totally agree! You could be right about the homeowners Assoc. Some of them are a little too wacky. To me, if you want to put a fence in your yard, it's your yard do it!
My parents HOA tried to ban Pick up trucks from being allowed in the sub. Some members thought it devalued their property if they had a neighbor with one. That got voted down quickly.

Anyways back to the subject at hand...I give the guy credit for admitting he killed the kid. At least (from this article) he's not trying to deny it by saying he had every right to shoot the kid. But I'm not saying its not RIGHT or OK to shoot anyone. Our taxes pay for a police force...USE THEM!

Sounds like this *&$# is setting up a pretty good insanity defense.

In cases like this, we tend to focus so much on the perp (human nature), but we have to ask ourselves "What about the victims?" My thoughts and prayers go out to this boy's poor family right now.

These homeowners associations are the dumbest thing I ever heard of!! First, you pay TAXES to live in the city, town or village. You pay TAXES to live in your state and you pay good hard earned money to buy a house. I would never live in an area that has a HOA and let them tell me what I can or can not do. I will obey the state and local laws, but would never obey a HOA law. This is just stupid. I am a dispatcher for 2 cities. Police, Fire and 911. These people who are on the board of these HOA think they run the darn city. They call and say things like, "I am on the board" and we all think yeah, big deal. They will call about kids skateboarding, roller blading or making to much noise playing basketball. Ok, I understand if it is at night and their actions can be a danger to themselves or they are making to much noise for the time of day. But, in the middle of the day during the summer, these kids are just being kids, having fun!! That is why I live where I do. Far away from the city and far away from HOA. No one tells me my grass is to long or that I have those wonderful yellow flowers called dandelions, that my house is the wrong color or God forbid, that there may be a PICKUP truck in the drive. HA, I feel like an outcast because I DON'T have a pickup truck Of course, no HOA would EVER want me near them because of my so called "dangerous" animals I know this was off topic, sorry. We get MANY calls like this from people who complain that someone was on their lawn. Yes, that is what the police dept is there for. If you have a problem, let the police handle it. Killing someone over your stupid grass is not worth it.

How horrible

You can just never tell who's living in your neighborhood these days, no one is safe anymore, You never know what a person may do at any given minute, That's very sad indeed, I am soooo glad that I don't have children that need to be raised, I told my 171/2 grandson if you lived with me I'd probably make you stay in the back yard all the time..
