Yes - my husbands grandmother had a schipperke - named skipper. He was a strange looking fella, and was quite non-trusting of humans. I don't know what happened to him but all in all he was a good dog. Low maintenance and all.

My cousin has two of them..both males and BOTH suffer from seizures.They are rather aggressive around strangers and aren't very trusting either.But, BOTH are also rescues so that could be part of the problem.
As far as taking care of them, good brushings every other day or so atleast.
