cat in MAJOR heat

hey,

my kitty is in intense heat. we've never seen her like this before...she's constantly grunting and narrowing her eyes and walking on the spot with her back legs and sticking her bum up in the air (poised for action!). like all day and all night. i think it must be exhausting for her...she looks haggard.

she's no longer accepting pets...it just seems to make things worse. any suggestions for relieving her a bit?

we're getting her spayed real soon, but we've got to wait for her to finish lactating.

Unfortunately when kitty is in such severe heat, she is in quite a bit of discomfort. Keep her inside at all costs and make sure Toms are discouraged from hanging around outside your home. Some vets will give shots to relieve the discomfort, but other than spaying there is no easy answer that I know of.
