I made an avatar, but really need help with file type/file size.....please......

I have tried so many times to figure out what I am doing with trying to compress an image (my program won't do that, and I cannot figure out other programs people suggest for the life of me.... and it puts so many folders onto my computer!) or change the file type. I am so extemely frustrated! The file type is IrfanView now (just like so many other files on my computer, even though I uninstalled IrfanView....) and TCS won't upload that file type. If someone could either do these things for me with this image, my new avatar I made:



Or at least try to explain how, and with what, and I will try again to figure it out...

Oh, thanks so much! Wasn't sure about the file size (it changed on photobucket ) but I couldn't upload it onto here because of the file type I guess.

I don't know why you couldn't upload it. Everything looked fine. The size and dimension were well within the limits and it is the right file type. Ahhh, the wonders of computers, eh?!

Great job! If you don't mind me asking, how did you make it? I tried sorta cutting/trimming from my new siggy in IrfanView, but it kept leaving lots of black around it, so it wasn't really working?! And like you said, even though it had a good amount of black border I tried to upload it just to see if it would work and it wouldn't do it for me either. Oh well, I'm SO happy with my new siggy, so an avatar can wait!

Well I used Photofiltre (www.photofiltre.com) it's also free.
I used the square/rectangle selection tool, then copy/pasted it onto a blank file I'd begun.
But if you want me to make you an avatar I can
I could probably have it done tonight.

Or you could try making your own in irfanview if it has that selection tool.
Or you could download Photofiltre and use that.

Hey thanks for answering so quick! Sometime in the next day or two I may try the photofiltre you mentioned. I wouldn't mind trying to make my own, as long as I can figure it all out! But if you get bored and make one, I would use it of course! I just love this site, everybody is so nice, and so creative!

EDIT- Well, I got it working, but with your URL thingy. If you want me to fix it where its on my computer and photobucket site, just let me know how and I will!

Just copy it by right clicking, and saving it to a file. Then you can upload the URL from your computer. If you have trouble doing that, let me know, and I'll do it for you.

Don't worry about it. Should it disappear at some future point, just PM me and ask me if I was "cleaning up" my Photobucket account. I lose track of which photos I'm supposed to leave. I've got it saved on my hard disk as "Ashley Nicole's avatar" under "attachments".

Yeah, sorry! After I told you it wasn't working, I realized I had tried to link it rather than upload it. And look, I think I figured out how to do it on my own! As long as it works, I'm proud of myself! (Even though its simple since I just took it from my siggy)

The eye looks terrific, too. Watch out - you're going to be like me, constantly experimenting and changing siggies and avatars. When I first joined this site, I had trouble even attaching photos, but with the help of other members, I got daring! The only computer course I ever had was a Basic programming course at a community college 20 years ago. I've learned far more about computers right here!
