Sorry guys...just needed to rant for a second. Someone vandalized my car on Friday night.
From the looks of it, some drunken St. Paddy's day revelers decided to use my car for kickboxing practice. My poor car..

For the life of me I can't figure out why someone would do this...but here i am stuck trying to get it fixed. I DID NOT budget for this!!!!!

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? How did you guys deal with it? (i don't think i'm dealing with it very well!)

I am so sorry. If you have full coverage insurance it might cover it since it was vandalized. You will still have to pay for the deductable though.

I can completely understand how angry you must be!
I would be utterly livid!!!

I've been very lucky to never have this happen to me (although, my car was keyed in college - along with my friends' cars
To say I was ready to kill is an understatement!!!) but it happens very often around the area I live.

I hope you'll be able to get it fixed for a good price! Will your insurance pay? (I know it's horrible as you'll lose no claims, but it would at least get it fixed!)

Probably at work :(
I would go berserk!!! I don't understand why people do things like that. You work so hard and pay so much money for your vehicle. No one has respect for personal property anymore. Drunk or not, its no excuse!! I'm fuming with you!!
I'm sorry that happened to you. Do you have any insurance?

OMG! How can people do such things?? I know a few yrs ago someone scratched the HECK outta my car, and I was soooooooo upset! That car was my *baby*! I was pretty sure I knew who did it though, just never proved it. I wish you well in getting it fixed and maybe catching the idiot that did this!!
*hugs* sent your way!!

The only damage to my vehicles I've caused myself (like turning to short into the driveway and taking the mailbox post off!!) or just recently hitting the molding around the garage door. Its always with the truck!!!
You just had some drunken a$$ take advantage of your vehicle. I don't think you can even make a report with the police???

Like previous posters have mentioned - check to make sure you have full coverage for vandelism. I see this come into the shop all the time - a lot of the time they don't have to pay for it cuz they have full coverage. Hopefully the damage is minor and it'll be under your deducible amt!

Good luck to you!

Thanks for your support everyone.

I did report this to the police since I needed to get an incident report number in case I do want to go through the insurance. Now I just need to get some quotes and see what happens. Unfortunately even paying the deductible would be a hit on the ole bank account i would rather not have. It is sad that no one respects peoples property anymore....my poor baby had only just turned 3 years old...she's too young for all this body work.

what a monday! Fingers crossed for the next few days.

Wow! You poor thing! I hope that things do turn out well for you (i.e. you win a lotto in the amount that makes up for the cost of damage...and plus a little more for the trama
)
Anyhoo, one college town here had stuff like that a few years back. Drunken students would wind up somehow tipping cars over. I was really glad that I didn't go there for school.

People that do this though are obviuosly in need of alcohol counseling...its one thing to strip down and go running through the bar (you do still need help)...but to damage someone else's property is absolutelly the worse. Most likely they were too drunk to remember what they did too...

I would be happy just to send them the bill. I just got back from getting quotes for the repair....$1000 - 1200 and 3 days without my car.

That deductable is always a pain in the butt! Hopefully the repairs won't cost much then you can do it without the insurance, or your premiums may go up.

What did your insurance co. have to say? Do you have to pay your deductible?

Hopefully the Body Shop will give you a loaner vehicle to use so you don't have to go without transportation for 3 days!

Well...unfortunately in looks like insurance is the way to go. I have to pay the deductible, but it won't impact my rates since it falls under vandalism (of course i now have a claim on record!). Luckily i have rental car clause in my insurance so they pay for the rental car the 3 days. So now i'm just waiting for something to come through from my insurance and I can go over to the Body Shop to get the damage appraised and set up an appointment. I will be glad when this is done.

So...i think I will be afraid to park anywhere downtown after this. I hate to generalize...but i'm thinking it was probably college students out on the town. And 10seconds of fun for them....is one big headache for me. Phew...well...here's hoping what goes around, comes around.

You don't happen to have State Farm insurance, do you? My car had been hit by someone with State Farm and I went through their insurance. State Farm suggested I use one of their preferred vendors. I did so only because its the same company the mfg of my car recommended. They arranged my rental car, drove me to and from the rental car place, fixed my car in less that the estimated time and even left a box of cookies on my car seat!
I hope your insurance company makes it this easy on you!
