I'm a new user, my first post - hope I'm doing this right.
My question is this - in order to make an outdoor cat and indoor cat, how do you train it to use the litter box. A stray showed up a few days ago and wants to come in. I let it in and it seems to be very content inside but I've been putting it outside at night or when I leave for work because I don't know how to get it to use the litter box. It does not appear to have gone in the house anywhere but that may be because I keep putting it outside regularly so that it won't.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi jewito, and welcome!

I would say to simply show her where the litter box is. Most of the time instinct will be enough. When my older cat was indoors and outdoors, he would go outside most of the time. But he used the litter box if he was in for a long period of time.

Yeah, cats naturally want to go where they can bury it. So if theres no problem as of yet, and you see the cat use the litter box I wouldnt worry. If not, just some simple training by putting them in a small room with all the comforts of home and the litter box. They will usually pick it up very fast!! I hope you can give the poor baby a good home
