Layla has always been a "licker cat". She licks hands, toes, carpets, and rugs. It never really bothered me but lately I've noticed that she's been licking things a lot more lately. She stops halfway in the middle of the floor and licks the carpet, rugs, tiles, and stairs! No drastic changes in the home, same ol' routines if you disregard spring break, but other than that I don't understand her sudden urges to be licking things so constantly now.
She eats and drinks fine so Im just confused? Could she have pica?
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Only a doctor could tell you for sure, so I imagine it's worth a visit.

Thanks, I'll try to take her to the vet this week.
I hope it's not anything serious.

Took Layla to the vet a couple of days ago, and the vet says it's proboaly just a behavioral problem and just squirt her.
My mother and I don't totally agree on his method of treatment and are planning to get a second opinion about it.
I don't think I can run after her squirting her everytime she's licking the carpet! She'll be soaked!

Well, she's not really eating anything.
She's just constantly licking everything!
At this very moment she's licking my foot.

But I have notice her chewing on her purr padd so I removed it but she's
still licking carpet, rugs, tile floors, stair. She sometimes even chews up the carpet and rugs though.

Hmmm...the fact that she's not eating should have caused the vet concern. I would definitely get a second opinion. I don't know based on what you've said what could be wrong, but I would definitely take her to another vet to get a different opinion. You're right, though...squirting her is NOT the best course of action...especially if she has a health problem and can't help what she's doing.
Poor baby. Let us know how it goes, ok?

She is eating food. I just meant that she wasn't eating any of the materials she licks on.
Sorry if there was any confusion

I would still get a different opinion, just squirting her because of a behavior problem sounds harsh, especialy since you don't know the cause, (could be a compulsive disorder but I am no vet...) She'll just end up being terrified, and maybe the problem would get worse.
