Hi, my cat seems to be acting very affectionate lately. She seems like she is getting really close to going into labor. She is laying down behind my couch and flinching every once and awile. You can feel the kittens anxiously moving around in her stomach. Are these signs of labor and if not what are?

I'm sorry - I don't know if those are definite signs of labor (they very well may be though) but I do know that when a cat is in labor they usually meow a lot, pace around, and stop to lick themselves constantly. If you think your cat's in labor, you need to make sure you've set up a place, like a cardboard box with lots of old rags in it, for her to give birth.
I hope all goes well!

I have and she doesn't like the nesting bed very much. She would rather stay behind my couch or on my fireplace.

If you absolutely cannot get her to use the place you've made, maybe you should try moving the box and everything to one of the places she prefers & keep any dogs, other cats or little kids away from the area.

What is she doing right now?

Right now she is laying streched out behind my couch. I have tried that before with moving the nesting box and she would just find a new favorite place. And once I take the nesting box away from her old spot she is back there right away!

I'm no expert, but my cats have had 3 litters & no one else is posting, so...
How about taking the cloth out of the box - and maybe getting even more extra cloth so you can make a bigger area, too, and just putting it behind the couch without the box? Or (and this is what I did for my cats) put the box on its side, or cutting one side so the flap is on the ground?

How close does it seem like she is? What's she doing??

Right now she is laying down sleeping nothing really happening yet. What would you suggest I need to keep on hand for the delivery?

My cats had no trouble during delivery, so I wouldn't know much about that. She should be fine on her own, with your close watch on her & just pet her and try to keep her calm during delivery. Calming words to her. She will take the sacs off & bite the cords herself. Don't try to take matters into your own hands if everything's going fine. Leave it to her motherly instincts.
Just make sure you have the number of your local vet or emergency vet, should anything go wrong & you need advice or help.

Oh and the kittens should come out head-first.

Anything other than that, somebody else would have to advise you.
Since she's just sleeping, I'm not sure she will have them really soon. I don't know, though.

Wishing your cat a safe delivery!
