This poor cat has been in the shelter since Mar 02, 2004.
She is located at Champaign County Humane Society in Illinois. Someone please get her out! If you're interested please PM me.

I know! She was there when I first started volunteering there and she's been there ever since! She is such a sweetheart! Independent but a lover..I don't know why nobody wants her!!

She is beautiful. It is hard to say why people choose one cat over another. Festus and Garfield were both available as kittens, until about 5 months old. I don't know why no one ever chose them! And it took Sugartoes 7 months to be adopted...she was beautiful AND a wonderful kitty.

Thanks for highlighting this girl. I hope someone comes to take her home, soon. No one should have to stay that long!

In all honesty, it's tough to get a pet adopted via a worldwide message board. Perhaps the direction you could take is to get the word out more locally. In Tampa, FL one of the local weathermen does a segment every morning on the news called "Pet Personals". He features a dog or a cat from one of the local shelters. According to the feedback I have heard, the adoption rate is high.

That would be a great community service project for you to perhaps get something like that started where you live.

That's a great idea! Do you think maybe little flyers will help? I know that our news station does stuff like this as well but I've never seen them advertise Lexus which really surprises me..

Awww she looks exactly like Chloe Ann who is the cat at the shelter I used to work at. She has been there a good 1.5 years by now. Since she was a kitten. She has a harder chance though because she was an extremely feral kitten. We tamed her down but she still goes a little wild when you play too much with her and she is tired out. I love this cat though. She does this lion swat pounce think that is adorable (hint hint: this shelter is located in Ravenna, OH btw in case anyone can swing on by and adopt a great little cat)

...sorry to take over your thread there...just made me think of her

Thx for that Deb - our group has a listing there and you are so correct. They provide an excellent service. Unless you are a breed specific group with mega resources - as in money mostly - It IS tough nationally - to have a pet adopted. Siamese Rescue in Texas recently had these cats from Pakistan rescued and brought here (to the Austin, Tx area) and they all had homes but one home took on too many and had to return them but it looks like there is another family interested.

It is amazing to see animals adopted at such a distance. (And they do - from what I hear anyway - a considerably thorough adoption and evaluation process. There are also many requirements as well there should be so my kudos to them).

Thank you again for that link.
