I just did something really stupid. I was cleaning out my fridge and throwing away all the food that wasn't good anymore. I put most of it in the toilet and flushed... and well... it didn't flush. It's stuck.

Problem is, I don't have a plunger. And the stores are closed for the day.

What should I do????

(no... I don't have another toilet I can use until tomorow and I don't think the cats would want me using their litter box)

When that happened at our house, my mom would always quickly dump a large bucket of water down the toilet. It pushes it all down, but I'd put towels down just in case first. It always works for my mum! PS, don't flush while dumping the water down!

Sounds like you need a good long rubber glove and poke around with something study but flexible to try and dislodge the blockage
. Gross - but effective. It's really a case of trying to get the stuff round the bend. As you clear it, put some water down there from a bucket, not too much, so that you keep the stuff flowing down the pipe and avoid blocking it up somewhere else.

Don't flush until you're sure the blockage has been cleared, otherwise you will have toilet water all over the floor.

Good luck.

I fixed it!!!

I tried all your suggestions and nothing worked. I was almost in tears trying to figure out what to do next. Out of frustration, I took the empty yogurt container I had been using to empty the toilet and used it as a plunger.

Believe it or not... it worked!!!

Yay! Glad it's fixed.
How resourceful though! - I'd never had thought to use a yogurt conainer as a plunger!

Glad it worked!

I was going to suggest knocking on a neighbor's door and asking to borrow a plunger, but looks like you won't be needing that!
