That must smart! Here it would have cost perhaps a wee bit less than in Canada.

Ouch indeed. What part of the US are you in? at our most expensive vet we've been to, that whole thing would've cost less than half of that!

iowa i go to one of the most expensive vets but i like him a lot he always calls a few days after any appointment to see how they are doing and if i have any questions i forgot to ask the surg cost about 150 for the surgery and the gas they use to put them under also for antibiotic the rest was for his shots since he is a new cat that was found outside we had to get everything done also decided it was a good time to get boosters for my other 2 cats. it was expensive but at least i know they should be good till next year lol

I just spent $180 for my KatyKitty who has an on-going chronic ear infection problem. I have been SO worried about her, and they did finally do a culture on the ear (after having her on a variety of broad spectrum antibiotics, to try and treat whatever the heck was going on in her ears!) It came back (after 6 months of different antibiotics!) a Gram Negative Cocci infection. So, with the cost of the Culture/Sensitivity, the antibiotic shot, the anti-inflammatory shot, and the antibiotic drops, yep--$180. And that was just for THAT visit! That doesn't even take in the amounts of the other visits, since August to keep trying to get my little furbaby all better!!!!!!

They won't spay her, until she is all better, which I DO understand, but I am wanting her to feel better AND get spayed really soon!!! Now, they want her in, on Tuesday, to flush her ears and give her more antibiotics and to "observe her''... I really do want her to feel better soon. Also, I am going broke!!!!!
Ahhhhhh....but I love my little KatyKitty.
I hope your kitty does really well, post-operatively!

With all the problems my five have had in settling them from street cats to house cats, plus the surgery and treatmetns that four of them have needed, I am so glad that prices here are around a third of those in the UK. And drugs are incredibly cheap. A week's antibiotics averages around $5. Now that Wellington is on Prednisone for his asthma, a box of ten daily tablets is $1. When I leave I am going to buy a supply of the most commonly used ones and even if they reach their end of life before I use them I won't have lost anything. Does anyone know if you can store tablets in the freezer?
