Hi everyone... No change with Gorby he is about the same but comfortable & happy so everything is as good as can be expected I guess..

However, I have a food question....

2 years ago my male cat Murphy had a crystal problem with urinating. He was bleeding and getting sick. The vet gave us meds and put him on a Rx diet. He said after I use the Rx diet for a week, switch to Science diet..So, for the last 2 years all of my kids have been on Science diet... I have heard mixed things about Science diet but since it seems to be working well with all of them I use it.

I was in the pet store today and they, like many other pet stores, don't carry Science diet.
She suggested Wellness Food. She said it was a much better quality and had more meat. She said Science diet WAS a good food but now it's junk.. Wow
I was surprised to hear that!

I did buy the Wellness food and mixed it in with the Science diet food for now.
I find it all confusing but want to do the best for my guys...

Any thoughts, opinions or suggestions???
And, I was wondering why the Vet suggested it if it's junk.. Or Is she telling me that so I buy food from her???
Thanks for reading...
Judith

What is your opinion on Wellness Brand?

Or, your opinion on a "good" quaity food?

Science Diet is not a highy quality food. They only way I'd feed it is my cat had a life threatening disease that 100% REQUIRED a precription diet. Even then, I'd try and find a different alternative. Wellness is okay, but some people here do not like it because it has garlic, but it's a personal choice. To me, garlic is fine and sometimes benefical in small amounts. You can get higher quality foods out there, such as Innova EVO, Timberwolf Organics, raw, etc. I feed a raw diet and that's what I suggest. It does cost a bit more than just straight kibble and more time consuming, but it's the more natural and healthy thing you could do for your cat. But, that's just my opinion. Good luck!

You need to have a frank talk with the vet before evan thinking of moving an Rx kid to regular food...

personally I dont like garlic so I wont use wellness ... I try to have no more than 1 meat to 1.5 grains.. example my Zoeys food has flaxseed and rice with chn and herring that is a 1 to 1 ratio

You are right Sharkey, I added some of this new food but to tell you the truth, I'm not totally comfortable with changing them over, At least not with something I'm not sure about... But it's one bag mixed so I hope to get more suggestions on this board than I will call the vet and get his opinion as well..
