Hey guys, I'm sorry I havn't been on here in a while . . . I usually never have time. But something really bad's happening right now, and I don't know how to handle it. Yesterday, mom comes and picks me up from school, and on the way home tells me that a tragedy is going on at home. She tells me Jinx is dying. Immediately I started asking all of these questions, but all she said was that she was a vet for a long time, she's not stupid, she's knows what she's doing. See, usually Jinx is an indoor cat, but we let him out at times to run around and play and use the bathroom, but he comes straight home. Last night, he didn't. Finally, he made his way up to the house this morning, barely able to walk. Even right now he can barely walk, or even raise his head up. He won't eat or drink, and mom has to literally manually get him to drink milk, so he won't dehydrate (I don't know if I spelt it right). She knows the symptoms, and she can see it in his face. Jinx has got into some poison. She said there isn't any use taking him to the vet, because she's seen it happen, and there's nothing the vet can do now. She won't let them take blood or probe him, put him through hell. And what is worse, was yesterday . . . he turned 1. I was hoping so bad that he wouldn't pass on his birthday, thank God he didn't. It just isn't fair, that a cat this loving and full of energy has to have this happen. I didn't cry yesterday, I knew it would do no good, so I forced back the tears. But I've been up since 5:15 this morning crying, I just can't help it. I pray and I pray and hope and hope that he will fight for it, and not give up. I can't imagine how scared he is, but he doesn't know what to do, and I want so bad to fight for him. And to top it all off, all of us have to go to Atlanta, Georgia this weekend, and won't be back until late Sunday. I don't want to leave Jinx alone, it kills me to know he's sick and nobody will be here. And I can't imagine walking in Sunday night to find him... I just can't. I pray to God to give him just enough strength to keep going. None of us can imagine life without him. We've got him a litter thing, and we're keeping him alot of food and water, I'm just hoping he'll eat and drink, but deep in my stomach I have a feeling he won't. This is the worst I've felt in a real long time. Even if this sounds lame, Jinx was one of my best friends. It's not fair he has to go this young, but if it's meant to be, then it's meant to be. Please pray for him guys, please help me, and all of us through this. That's all I'm asking. --Please.

We love you, Jinxie Cat! Please don't give up!

Tyler i'm moving this to the health forum because Jinx is still with you
But sweetie you have to persuade your mum to get Jinx to the vet because he might be able to help him, and the thing is you don't know if Jinx is in pain?, and i'm sure you wouldn't want him to be like that

He needs fluids as well or he will become dehydrated

Sending ((((((strong healthy vibes))))))) for Jinx, but please tell your mum to get him to a vet

You should take him to the vet...he's still really young and may have a chance if you bring him in ASAP..Also, this way he will be at the vet getting the care he needs while you are in Atlanta for the weekend..He really should not be alone. If its true and he is dying, he might be suffering and at least the vet could make him more comfortable if nothing else.

Please ask your mom to consider it because even if she has alot of vet experience..she really doesn't know what's wrong unles the tests are done..

PLEASE, I BEG..TRY AND GET HIM TO THE VET!!

I agree with the others, Jinx needs a vet. Not to be rude to your Mum but she isn't a vet now and doesn't have the things this cat needs such as an IV, charcoal to help absorb the poison, meds to support the kidneys and liver etc. I know someone who says, "Oh I used to be a nurse, I know these things." But times change. Even a couple of years ago, they may not have been able to save animals that they can save now because medication and technology have advanced.

Is there any way you can ring another family member or friend to help you get Jinx to a vet? Or take a taxi? I don't advocate going behind your mother's back but it sounds like Jinx is really suffering.

Milk may not be the best thing fo him either. It may be better to give him Pedialyte or even a home-made version:

Home-made Pedialyte

1 cup water (boiled then cooled)
Small pinch of baking soda
Small pinch of Salt
2 teaspoons of sugar

Mix all ingredients well. Make sure the mixture has been slightly warmed before feeding to your cat. The mixture will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Please, Please,Please take this cat to a vet ASAP! Not only can they figure out what is wrong, they could watch him while you are away. Jinx should NOT be left alone this weekend. Please keep us updated.

Just to add, it could be something entirely different like he's been hit by a car, had a bad fall etc. It could be something that can be helped.

I can't believe your Mother could be that inhumane as to let your cat suffer. If she "used to be a vet" I think she would have a little more compassion than that. If the reason she doesn't want to take him to a vet for treatment is money the least she could do is have him humanley euthanized. Would she want to be left alone for the weekend to possibly die?? That is the cruelest thing I have ever heard.

(((Tyler))) I am praying!
PLEASE PLEASE write to us and let us know. I'll be very upset if I don't hear something. I cannot bear to think of an animal suffering.

I'm just trying to catch up on posts and came across this
I am so sorry that you and Jinx are going through this. How is Jinx today? Did you manage to persuade your mum to take him to the vets?

I am so sorry it's been so long to reply. Jinx managed to bounce back from whatever it was, and we were so happy, you couldn't imagine. Then, several weeks ago, it kinda started to happen again, but not as serious, but once again he bounced back from it within a week. Then, this morning, same thing. We're going to take him to the vet, don't worry... but mom thinks he has a heart condition, and it kills me knowing that is possible. But I will keep you posted, and thank you so much, all of you, for your concerns and prayers. Keep the vibes coming, please!
