I have made plans to build an outdoor enclosure for my girls come spring (I can't wait to start!
). I have drawn up the plans already, but in my research on fence, I"m having a bit of difficulty. Not many fence types say how much "weight" they can hold.
As all of us know - they will climb it. So I'm trying to figure out what the best to use is. I don't want Chicken wire (too weak), but I don't want chain link (too strong). Am looking for something in between. Did find something similar to that used by the Purrfect Fence company, but it was only 2' high (not enough).
Anyone know what the best to use would be? Any suggestions? Has anyone built their own?

Seems to me that the frame would provide enough support for chicken wire. You're using wood frame?

If they aren't chewers you could use heavy plastic hardware cloth.
If they are chewers, there is a wire that is made much like chicken wire, but with holes that are half the size (can't remember what it's called), I used to use it for my outdoor rat enclosures.

Yeah - I was thinking of using wood for the posts (ie - they can double as scratching posts). I just figured that even if the posts were close enough together that those little wire loop holes are quite flimsy - maybe not.

They aren't chewers though - that's for sure.
