I have a feral which is now an indoor cat and becoming quite happy. It still has worms from time to time which is costly. I have seen the vet do an extremely easy test in their office. Does anyone know where i can get the equipment to do it at home with reults at home??

try drsfostersmith.com but i do not know if they have them, just a guess. i don't even know if you can buy the equipment to do it yourself. Maybe only for vets and you may have to be an actual vet to get it. I have no idea really though.

Also, I know with vaccinations, you can get them in bulk to give yourself at home, but I don't think a vet would recognize that as legit if you had to actually take the cat in for something. or say you had to board the cat, I don't know if they would count it if you vaccinate the cat yourself and may insist you have a vet revaccinate them if you bring them in.

I would think that if your feral is now indoor only and you use a flea preventative monthly, then after 1-2 de-wormings (by a qualified vet who knows what type of worm he/she is treating for), then you shouldn't need to worry about worms anymore.

I'd be very hesitant to diagnose and treat worms myself if I was not sure what type of worm and how much medication/type medication to give.

I'm no expert, but my thinking is that if the cat is getting "worms from time to time", then you never got rid of them in the first place.

Petco carries a at home worm test.. but you have to mail the test to a lab and wait for the results .... I think my vet is faster and cheaper ( about 14 bucks for a fecal vs this kit at 30
