I live in the No. Va area near DC.
Normally, I would not post here about finding
a home, but I'm feeling I *must* do something
to help find my lil orange guy a *responsbile* home.

My problem is that Za will have her kittens in the
next few days (oh how exciting!) and that my
3 other cats do not want the lil orange guy
up in the house with them. So, even if I
wanted to keep I can't. Plus, lil guy has
a very dominant personality. I can see it already -
he wants to be top cat, and organize everyone else!

since my old Diablo is our top cat, lil guy wouldn't
fit in. So, while he is young and adorable, plus
adaptable is the time to find him a home.

I think he would do will with other cats - provided
the person adopting had time to spend with him -
he's still only 3 months old, a real baby!

The rescue group here is not certain they can
take him, that's why I'm out looking on my own.
I'm sort of being proactive.

Of course, there's also the fact
that my parents are visiting me too at the end
of April and I simply can't have him around
while they are here. I will NEVER hear the
end of it from them. Plus - where will they
sleep if he's in the spare bedroom, LOL??

(My parents have 2 neurotic cats - I OTH
have normal well socialized cats...)

So for all those reasons - I'm looking. Any suggestions?
Craigslist seems iffy, I'd rather make sure the people
adopting aren't like the old owners who let this little
guy be out for 4 days alone and unfed down a sewer
(and with out looking for him either!!). Responsible
owners only need apply!!

Of course if there are any on the board who want
a terribly smart (possibly part Siamese) orange tabby
kitten with lots of puuurrrsonality (did I mention
he purrs when you pick him up?)....

Yeah, he IS a sweetie! He has a real Siamese purrrsonality!
I just want to make sure I don't place him in a home with
children who will torment him, or with people who will
let him wander and not care where he is.

And of course, I want him to be young enough to
bond well with his new family.

Is he neutered?? If you can get him neutered and UTD on shots and tested for FIV/FELV....then I may be able to have you bring him to an adoption event for the rescue group I volunteer with.

Thanks Katie! He's not yet, but he will be. He is about 9-12 weeks
old.
Just at the right age. And FeLuk neg we believe. This
guy was rescued when a family allowed him out, he rain into the sewers, and they (unbelievable!!) didn't do *anything* to get him back. Poor guy
spent 3 days out there with no food or water and being chased by
the other cats.

But I'm getting him neutered ASAP! When is the adoption fair?

I would have to get it approved first....we have 3 adoption events....Fridays we are in Fair Lakes 7-9, Sat. we are in 7 corners 12-3 and Sunday we are in Leesburg 1-4. I would assume you would want to bring him on a Sunday. He would absolutely need to be neutered, he would need to be UTD on shots (including rabies) and he would need to be FELV/FIV tested negative. I can certainly ask the head of the adoption event.

Katie: If the adoption fair is this weekend, I can't
get him done that fast
If it is later like in 2 wks.
I can have him done. (I have to get him to the vet
next week...Thursday, so they can do procedure
Friday am.)

PM me with the details if you get approval. And thanks
so much for the help!!

We have adoption events every weekend...I'll talk to the head of the cat adoptions and see if that would be ok.

Katie: Will do. He goes to the vet soon. The vet says
it is his weight we need to watch - when he is heavy enough,
we can do the procedure. As to shots - we will get those
w/ w/out the neuter jobbie.

Meantime - he is incredibly lovable.
Real lover cat -
and top cat too, LOL!

I got the go ahead from the head of the cat adoptions...you can bring him next Sunday as long as he is neutered and UTD on shots.

Katie: He is actually a SHE! And she just got a spay and
shots UPT. She is FLV neg and Feline Aids neg. Yahoo!

She is slowly getting more people friendly with others. Vet staff said
she would tame down well.
She was a perfect little girl for them.

She is recuperating now, and should be okay by Sunday April 2nd.
Please send me the info by PM for where I should go, and who I
should contact etc etc...

Thanks!

Wow, that is great news! Ha-I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been tricked by a kitten...I had a girl who turned out to be a boy!

Best of luck to this little one recuperating, then going to the shows. I know that can be stressful to babies, but it is such a great way to be adopted!
