I have had 3 more children, and have never found a way to really teach them about child molesters, except the basic rule that no one should touch you where your bathing suit covers. But sexual abuse is so horrifying, how can you tell a young child about it?
I initally responding to the molestation by deciding never to have any more children, since it is impossible to guarentee their safety. Luckily I did have an oops baby several years later. However, my refusal to work and leave him with a sitter was part of why my then husband divorced me.
My oldest is doing pretty well now, and I think she has recovered from the abuse the best she could. If I had my choice, the death penalty would be the punishment. These offenders are known to be repeat criminals.
In the real world, a lot of offenders would be released rather than put to death, so a lifetime of isolation far away from other humans would satisfy me. But a few years for ruining little people's lives is inappropriate.
