hi pretty new to this forum but i figure ill give it a try. i have 3 cats but the prob is with my oldest one who is about 4 snickles. It seems like when ever he gets scared he will attack baby our 2 year old cat. any other time they are just fine sleep together clean each other ect. but if there is a loud noise or if baby gets tail steped on and hollars snickles attacks. he seems to have this crazed look and poor baby just tries to get away i even tried picking up baby once to get him away but snickles started jumping at me to get to him. i have tried picking up snickles but u can prob think already what happened i got bit (wont do that again). i usually end up putting a blanket over him and then carry him to the bathroom where i can keep them seperated. usually after 20 mins or so they are just fine again my concern is he will really end up hurting baby and ideas as to why this happens all of my cats are neutered.

Gee that is a problem. i am not real experienced with having multiple cats but it may have something to do with an alpha issue. But then again I could be so wrong. If that is the problem, I wouldn't know what to do to correct the issue. maybe you could post in one of the threads where the behaviorial experts chat. I hope you find a solution soon. You can always call your vet. He/she could probably give a couple of suggestions as to why and how to correct.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help, Good luck!

Your cat might be oversensitive to stimuli and so gets easily excited, and when he gets excited needs to let out the built-up energy -- it's either fight or flight, and if there's another cat handy nearby, then it's fight. An extreme form of this is called feline hyperesthesia (I might have the spelling wrong). But you can ask your vet about it. Medication is usually helpful if needed.
