What is he doing?

Spalding (10 months) is always following his dad Mister (2 years) around, lately he's been rolling around on his back. Then goes and gets some head licks from Mister & more rolling.

He only does it in front of Mister, any ideas on what he's doing? Perhaps submitting?

Both are neutered btw.

In my household, a few of the cats do that with our alpha male. It looks like part submission, part trying to engage the alpha in play, and part trying to gain his favor. It sounds like a submission thing to me.
