I think I am going to pull my hair out.

Lily is getting old enough that she will soon need surgery to fix her knees. Something happened to her before she came to me & her knees didn't form right. I will have to figure out to do with her when the time comes.

Twitch wasn't eating over the weekend. It wasn't the first time she has stopped eating, but each time I worry she might die. She is a very special kitty & has outlived the lifespan every vet I have seen has given her. She is my miracle cat!
At least she is eating well now.

Damita has ringworm. Chico has ringworm. Ophelia was living in the basement with them. So, now I have to treat ringworm on my own with only the guidance of a HS volunteer. The HS won't let me take Damita & Chico to the vet unless this treatment doesn't work.

I have to clean the ringworm out of the basement.

Ophelia hasn't showed signs of ringworm....or maybe she has? SHe shed s ton, but has since she came into the house. I think it's just stress.

Tonight is the night of doom. A month ago, there were some HS cats exposed to a FeLV + cat. Mr. POsitive was euth'd as the HS doesn't have th resources to treat/keep a + cat. Tonight 10 HS cats get tested. Three of those cats have ringworm. One appears to be exhibiting signs of FeLV. My surrenders: Gabriel(buff), Kai(buff with white "socks"), Pandora(orange/gray siamese mix with blue eyes), Zorro(blue seal point siamese mix w/ blue eyes), & Lil Damita(tortie) are among the cats exposed. All but Lil Damita(she's 3) are 11 months old. Pandora had an application in to adopt her. If they test positive, they get euthanized.
I couldn't convince the HS to give them more time. If they keep these cats longer, then they have to turn away people wanting to surrender puppies. I don't understand the logic(if there is any there), but I am keeping my fingers crossed everyone tests negative. I guess puppies are more adoptable & important than these cats.
I shouldn't be mad. They were so nice to help me by taking in those surrenders. If not, they would have been breeding here. They are better off euthanized than living out their lives unaltered here, as sad as that sounds(mom & dad wouldn't fix all of them, or couldn't afford to).

There is another snowstorm coming tonight/tomorrow morning. We could get 9+ inches on top of the 8-10 we got Sunday nihgt/Monday morning. I want to go get a cat that got a hernia fixed from the vet in the morning so she isn't stressed out there anymore, not that I know where to put her.

I am running out of places to put the ringworm cats(hopefully there aren't any more). I have 2 of the three bathrooms tied up with cats & Chico in a dog crate.

That's all, for now. I won't know if anyone needs to be euthanized until tomorrow morning. I have a feeling I won't sleep tonight. All of this was starting to get to me, but it always makes me feel better to whine to you guys. You understand how much I love these cats. My family says, "They're just cats. There are a million more out there." Idiots. How would they like it if we euthanized my little sister(or another member of the family) because they were sick? I consider all of the cats(even the surrenders) my family.

You sure do have a lot on your shoulders right now! And you sure have every right to vent. I don't understand people how people can have that attitude "it's just a cat"

Sending lots of *hugs* your way.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this- I know first hand what a horrendous disease FeLV is and I hope beyond hope that none of these babies contracted it.... although I will say that it is probably the best thing to euthanize them if they do test positives because it is extremely hard to find adoptive parents for positives. No one seems to want to adopt a cat that might die tomorrow
I don't know what your HS policy is but usually new cats are quaratined until they can be tested for FeLV and FIV, is that what they do? how did they come in contact with and for how long were they with Mr positive? My fingers are crossed for you
let me know what happens!

My prayers are with you and your family. Every one of those sweet kitties are precious, whether or not they're sick. Thank you for taking care of them.

Yes, cats are normally quarantined until they are tested, wormed, Frontlined, etc. But, a realy, really, really, stupid new cop(I hate him & I have never met him) apparently can't read & "didn't know" that he was supposed to put incoming strays in the quarantine room, which has a big sign saying 'quarantine room' on it. He had just been through a training thing showing him what to do, I guess. He put Mr. Positive in the "sink room" that holds the overflow of cats from the normal cat room. The cat got out of his cage & came in contact with the cats in their cages & the one cat that got to roam that night, Sweet Pea. I *think* Mr. POsitive came in aroun 10pm & was found the next day around 8am. He was able to get out of his cage as he was really small & fit through a hold(the cage has since been "accidentally" broken by the HS president).

I have been calling the HS all day to find out who tested negative, but no one is answering the phone. I don't have any cell #s to call anyone else. I was going to go to the HS tongiht, but I am snowed in. I might have to wait until Saturday to find out. I don't know if I can wait that long.

What a horrible thing to have happen! I wish you had more of a say in this situation...how terrible to just be waiting to hear about your beloved kitties! Hugs to you...try not to go crazy waiting to hear the news. Just think how bad it would be if you hadn't gotten involved. At least some kitties have been saved and rehomed.

I know how much I love each of my babies. I would feel terrible to learn of something like this happening with any of them. Please post when you know...
