Hey everyone, this is a question for my future referance.

When I get my own place, and a good job, and have settled myself, I've always wanted to get a pedigree cat. Just to experiance are particular breed. My aunty loves Ragdolls, and shes had them all her life, she lives far away though, so I haven't seen them all in a good while. she also rescues strays.

I love all kinds of cats, lets eb honest how can you not love every breed?

But I know different breeds are all different, and for year or so, i've wondered what breed myself, should look into. I'd want to reasearch into them now, get to know what there like just so I know in the future. find breeders and visit the breed see if there for me.

Sort of cat purrrrrrrrrrrsonality i'm after. lets see....

I have ALOT of time to give to my cats. I'm with them ALL the time, on the pc now, i've got Star on my lap. I can't bare them not around me, I love to be followed by them, cuddled with them, and snuggle up.

I can deal with active cats, heck its fun right?
I play with fishing rod toys with mine and make them jump over there cat trees like an obsticle course they LOVE IT.

they wait for me to do!!
And because there exercised like this, there muscles in there front legs are huge hehe.

I'll make a list of the sort of things I love in cats might make it easier, otherwise i'll be hereall day going on about cats!!

- Love active playful, cats with the fun streak its playtime!!
- cats that love to be fussed picked up and loved.
- Will follow you around, and let you know when they need you! Missy is very vocal hehe love it.
- Preferably short hair, though I do love and have owned long hairs, it's just the hair tends to get up my nose more!! hehe.
- A loyal loving compainion, who loves me, and I love them.

- Not to timid, as they'll be meeting my other cats.

Thats all really I can think of, a cat with these traits.
reading my many cat mags, I think a Singapura sort of came into these catorgies, and Bengals and Siamese, not sure though, need tips from those who lovingly own pedigrees!

I own a Ragdoll, Turkish Angora and a Siamese.
I love them all very much, but my favorite is the Siamese. He shows me all the time he loves me, follows me, sits on my lap all the time, talks to me (when i ask him something he answers back
). He is also very playfull and smart. If he wants to play he brings me his toy and when i throw it away he brings it back to me

First i got my Domestic boy, then my Ragdoll, my Turkish Angora and last my Siamese. He is 10 months old now and is the most loving cat i've ever seen. If i ever take another breed i will have another Siamese or a Oriental Shorthair (same charakter as the Siamese, only a different color).
If you are looking for a very people oriented, active and playful cat (and also very vocal) a Siamese or Oriental Shorthair is the cat for you

It is my favorite breed

So many choices! Well my favorite breed of course is the bengal. Just do a lot of research until you have that one that sounds perfect for you.

If you really want to own a pedigreed cat this is not the forum to ask about it. Unless you want to be talked out of it,
LOL

Have you thought about Abys? Abyssinians are my favorite. I don't think they're as loud as Siamese. This link describes them as very loyal but not lap cats. However, the ones I've know were certainly lap cats. My favorite was a kitten who would wrap her tail around your arm! Soooo cute. They just like to be anywhere you are. They're also seem to be very friendly with other cats. An Aby breeder I knew said that two Abys are five times the trouble of one.
They do like to play!

I say you can't go wrong with a ragdoll, but, I own and raise them, so i'm a little biast!
Any who, most cats are lovely and every breed (moggies too) has special qualities about them and to find what is right for you, you will have to do some research on the breeds you are most interested in to start with and go from there.

At the kitty's beck and call
Hi Claire

I am the proud slave to two Singapuras and I can honestly say that my two would fit the bill for what you want and I understand they are typical of their breed. Although of course you would need to see the individual cat first, to judge its temperament.

I am sure you will be happy with whatever kitty you get, but our two Singapura babies have been a real eye-opener for us. They are truly adorable.

Chiming in on Bengals:

A Bengal Cat in a nutshell: Loyal, devoted companion. Considers himself an equal to you and values your friendship and devotion. Highly intelligent, extremely athletic, very inquisitive, gregarious and fearless. Playtime is the favorite time, rough housing is the rule, the more intriguing the game the better.
Not a major lap cat, but down time will be spent next to his owner, and sleeping on the bed is a favorite. All hugging and kissing is tolerated and enjoyed in moderation.
Water is a favorite and fetching toys is too. Easily trained to behave, but they do have an endearing mischievous side.
Virtually no owner grooming is needed. Bengals have short pelts and are able to keep themsleves spotlessly clean with no help from their owners. Baths are normally not needed.

I have Bengal's and Siamese. I love both breeds. I think Siamese are a lot more mellow than Bengal's, however Bengal's are loads of fun, and will usually keep you laughing all of the time, because of the crazy stuff they do. One thing I've noticed is that even though a Bengal can be naughty, you just cannot get mad at him or her.

Both Siamese and Bengal's are intelligent and curious, but I think the Bengal is more your equal than a Siamese.

The same rules apply to Singapuras too.

They also have very definite notions of which spots are theirs and how to achieve their objectives. Where once we had ornaments on the mantel above the fire, the Singapuras decided this was their warm perch and systematically removed every ornament by various methods.

I'll chime in too, although I've never actually had a "pedigreed" cat before, my Simon can be nothing other than a full blown Siamese, although he doesn't talk that much. Love him Love him Love him! He is always in my face wanting attention (not good for the allergies
) and he loves to play. I would love to get more Siamese one day, but for now FeLV+ babies need me. I also had a pair of, if not pure bred, pretty gosh darn close to it, twin Abyssinian brothers. They were great also, and like someone above mentioned, not really supposed to be lap cats, but they were for me also. They were a couple of horses too
(as in BIG cats) Never knew a Bengal, but from the members on here who have them, they seem to be WILD kitties! never a dull moment to be found with that breed.

I have 2 very active abyssinians.. Frankie is a lover boy, he spoils everyone he meets with kitty kisses. My abys are not lap cats.. They are very affectionate, active, and playful, they are like little clowns. I love the sweet trills they make. I will always have a abyssinian in my house.

I have a female ocicat who is very intelligent, and protective of the other cats. She is a very loyal cat.

The more I read about bengals the more I want one. I love active cats.....The naughtier the better.
