I am the only person on the face of the earth who doesn't have call display?

I like answering the phone. It is easy enough to get rid of pesky telemarketers. I alos like getting junk mail!

I LOVE my caller ID! I screen all my calls. Why talk to a telemarketer if I don't have to?

I like giving telemarketers a hard time. Like let them get through their whole spiel and ask them a bunch of questions and let them talk for about 5 or 10 minutes and then tell them I am not interested!!

I hate junk mail...especially local newsads or whatever they are. I get some Cary magazine and I don't even live in Cary. Ugh.

As for caller ID, I like mine but regardless I answer the phone. I don't get telemarketers since the donotcalllist came out.

Probably at work :(
If you hate junk mail, do this.
When you get something with a return envelope, like a credit card app, take your other junk mail and put it in that envelope and mail back to them. Maybe they'll get the picture.

I love my caller ID. I guess having to answer the phone all day at work, when I come home I don't feel like answering anymore calls.

Don't have caller ID. I rarely answer the phone and if it is someone I want to talk to then they leave a message and I call back. Or else I pick up when they start speaking

We do not and haven't ever had caller ID. I am on the 'no call' list for telemarketers, so I don't get those calls. I do NOT enjoy junk mail though!

LOL at work we are HORRIBLE to telemarketers. We either keep putting them on hold saying whoever they are waiting for will be "just another minute" or....

we have a phony name we give when they say "who is in charge of..." and we also have a voice mail with this persons name set up. We started doing that almost a year ago (my idea btw
) and it was so funny - it only took about 2 weeks before "Don" started getting calls! The hardest part was remembering when someone asked for "don" for us not to say "there isn't a Don here". A month or so ago, he even got mail! Just this morning I gave a salesman who walked in a business card with Don's name on it.

We would probably still be without call display, were it not for the fact that a few years ago our phone number got onto a list of fax numbers that was distributed on a CD, undoubtedly for a price, to entities who wished to advertise by fax. Many such entities at the time were not careful of the regulations applying to such use, and sent their #$&#&#^&$*$&*$^*$^&*$ faxes at all times of day and night, and we were regularly woken up at some ungodly hour, only to hear at the other end of the phone, "BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...BEEP..." You get the picture. At the time, my Dad (then 80+)was still living downstairs from us, so no way could we just turn the ringer off, in case he had an emergency in the middle of the night.

It took a LOT of logging of calls, a LOT of correspondence with the phone company and CRTC, etc, to get the situation settled down. In the process, we got (among other things) call display, so we could at least not pick up calls from numbers we didn't recognize. We still get a few such calls every week, but not in the middle of the night anymore, thank God! And I've come to appreciate the screening capability -- and the ability to look at the number and answer "Hi Tom!"

You must be reading my mind, Ady. Our phone/fax machine is on its last legs, and I went shopping for a new one this afternoon. I decided that the new one should display caller IDs, and be capable of receiving/sending text messages. I'm hearing impaired, so I also need an amplifier. Our current phone cost about $600, so I was shocked to find that I could now get one with all the "extras" for $115 - $160 (U.S.). I found one that meets all the requirements, but it was too big to lug home on the train, so I'll have to drive to work and pick it up ASAP.
My cell phone has caller ID, and that has really spoiled me. I didn't see any that fit the bill and were "Jamie-proof", though - all of the models I looked at could easily be used by a phone-addicted cat.

In many ways our household is low tech!!! DH wouldn't want the extra expense of phone extras!!! I have to get a mobile phone for my business and thats just killing him as right now our phone bill only runs $35/month. Dial-up computer $9.95. No cable/satellite either.

OMG... GGGRRRR I HATE telemarketers. I'm on the switchboard at work and get great satisfaction telling people that we don't accept telemarketing calls and hanging up on them!! As for junk mail, I usually do the tear it up and mail it back to them thing.. hee hee!! Bet they just LOOOOVE that!
No, I don't think we get any sort of newspapers here... Actually we do, but I never look at it... They usually sit in the paper box thingie until you can't fit anymore in and then I throw them all away... With 2 cats, one of which has some fasination for shreading news paper... it's difficult to open them much less actually read them.

I really like having caller ID. I do screen calls once in a while, but I normally misplace my phone, so its a mad dash to find it and I normally forget to check who's calling anyways. I also could not live with out my call waiting option.

I have to have caller id because my husband's brothers still sound alike to me but they expect me to recognize their voices. They have never said , Hi this is..... They just start talking.

Couldn't be without my caller id.

I love getting my Publi Sac (junk mail package) on Sundays, then I can check out all the specials at the grocery store etc.

I don't have call display. If I get a telemarketer on the other end I hang up so fast that it's not even funny.

I have call display. I hate being bothered by the phone! I leave the ringer off always. If it's important, people who count will hang up and call my cell phone number. I heard that telemarketers have some thing where they keep track of what time they called and you answered the phone. I figure if I never answer, they'll stop calling!
Maybe?
