I was doing so well in school but lately I have been up to my neck in stress and been forgetting things a lot easier!! Sometimes I even forget things my FRIENDS tell me so it's not just things that I'm supposed to be doing..

Right now I missed one math test so that put my math grade to a "C" and it used to be a high "B." I had to come home early on Friday because I was sick and that really bothered me I didn't want to leave for I know it's such a pain to catch up in this particular school (They really don't give you enough time at all if any to catch up.)

Our final for Math ended up being a take home test and I found out today that it's due tomorrow!! It's 6 pages long and I haven't even started on it!!

I COMPLETELY crashed and burned on a test in ETC class today!! I missed the day he told us what was going to be on it and he told me to ask Zack what's going to be on it! Sure enough Zack didn't know!! The only part I passed on that test was the vocab and there's no way that even got me a "D"!!!

I'm freaking out so bad I'm crying right now I'm scared to death about this math final..I'm so overwhelmed I CAN'T THINK!!!! Why can't they do finals like the normal high school where we sit in the class and take them with bubble paper!! That would make things SO MUCH EASIER!!!

I know you're probably thinking a take home test would be easier than a regular sit in class and do it test but believe me..with all the other junk they pile on ya..it's not it makes things HARDER!! And not to mention because I had left on friday I only had one day TODAY to do this. Instead I stressed over my ETC..and failed that..

There's no way my parents are gonna let me go to new york now!!!

Take a deep breathe, and relax. You CAN do this! Now, first off, log off the computer and get to work, girl!

More advise later. For now, you need to get going on that math test!

You are going to do fine girl! Just remember to breathe, grab a pencil, and get to working problems. I know what you mean about take home tests, it's the same in college, when they say the words 'take home test' everyone cringes because it's sure to be harder! Good luck dear.

Good job!

The forgetfulness is likely just due to having too much to think about. Successful people use a daily planner or organizer, so they can write things down, and have a plan of attack. In some ways your school is different than regular school, since you can't bring things home and study, but in other ways you still need to pace yourself.

Get a planner at Target or somewhere...they should be cheap now in March! And just make it a habit to use the planner.

Personally, I have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), and planners do NOT work for me, but my hubby does great with one! I have to write things where I can see them, not where they are closed in a book that I either ignore or lose. I really wish I had learned that habit as a teen, though.

I write things in 2 places, at work on my workpad, which I use continually. And at home I have a huge calendar by the door, and each kid has their own color. I write stuff to do after school, etc, on the big calendar.

I also leave myself messages on my work phone (I check it frequently on work days), or cell phone. Sounds goofy, but it works for me. I have trouble remembering home stuff when I'm at work, and work stuff when I'm home. So at work I'll leave a phone message reminding myself to leave work early for a dentist appt. Or my cell will have a message to come in to work early for a meeting. (That reminds me...I have a meeting later this month, and a doctor appt I didn't put on the calendar yet! Grrr...I HAVE to really work at this organization stuff!)

Hugs to you. You have come so far...but sometimes we get so used to messing up that we forget that we can suceed. You can and will succeed. You may not become an A student this semester, but you will learn what you need to know and pass your classes, with the effort you are putting into it! Don't give up now! You can do it!

Way to go lil!

A wise friend once told me "A poor set of notes is better than a good memory." I drive a long delivery route, and I have to have everything written down, or I'd forget half of it, even though I've been doing it for 11 years! Try it, it might even work for you! Good luck.

Under the cats, mostly.
woah - I second the slow down, breathe and focus!! Well done for getting the math test done - that's probably the biggest problem out of the way. Now all you need to focus on is whatever else comes your way. I guess it's maybe a case of prioitising - and when you've got a stressful exam to think about, things like a take home exam will slip your mind! I don't blame you for being all stressed out and forgetting - I'd more than likely have done the same, least of all because I can't count higher than ten without taking off my socks and shoes!

You've got it out of the way, take a few hours to chill out and de-stress!
Way to go you!

School is definitely stressful. I've been in similar situations. I actually convinced myself if I was hungry then I could take a break to eat...that tricked me into being hungry all the time and that never leads to a good thing.

Sometimes the workload is unbelievably scary and sometimes all-nighters are a requirement but there is always the other side to look forward too. Just take things one step at a time. Don't look at everythign you need to do, only look at one. Take your test one problem at a time. Don't look at the clock or how long it takes, just take it problem by problem, then page by page you will finish.

I know you've finished. But if it happens again just think about being on the other side

WOOOHOOOOOO!!! See? You DID it!!! YAY for you! I am the first to admit, when my brain gets too many things in it, I get SOOOO forgetful!
I used to get embarrassed and try to cover up for it, but I had ADD long before they EVER had a name for it! Mostly, I was daydreaming or being disruptive in class (yeah....the class joker!
)
But, anymore, after I came to realize exactly what I was doing, and what the problem was, I learned to more or less live with it. I really try still, to find ways to help my forgetfulness (I am the QUEEN of Post-It Notes!
) When we go away for several days, I have a "Last Minute List" I made up on Microsoft Works and just print it up and leave it taped up on the door I'm leaving from. As I get all the last minute things out into the car, I check them off. That way, I don't leave without things I REALLY need! When I was studying, I found if I read things out loud to myself, and highlighted those things I read out loud, in yellow highlighter, that I remembered the things a LOT better, for tests! Then, when I was studying the night before, I would RE-read those highlighted things out loud again, and that helped keep it in my mind for the test. When I sit down to do bills, I turn off the radio and the TV. That way, I am not straining to listen to music or shows, and find I DO concentrate a lot better! So, we all have to do what works for us, and I am just glad for you, that you got through it! Try to keep a more positive image of how good you are, at what you do. It really does help!
