Hi all,

My cat is shedding like crazy these days. she started about 2-3 weeks ago. I can brush her everyday and get tons of hair out of her. I know of the problem when they get winter/summer fur, but I live in Singapore. The temperature here is always between 28-35 celsius. Is it still a seasonal thing?

I haven't changed her food or anything. So I really cannot imagine what the source of problem is.

Thanks for you answers!

Part of what triggers the shedding is changes to the length of the day - when the days start getting longer, they shed their "winter" coat and get in their "summer" coat.

There is no change in the length of days down here in Singapore

At least none that I would have noticed

Our kitties are very attuned to the subtle light changes of the sun.

This has been going on since the beginning.

Dexter and Sadie have medium length coats with a baby fine fur undercoat.
Because the days are getting longer in So. California,
they are now beginning their annual shedding of their undercoat.

A daily brushing makes a huge difference.

Hi!
I have 5 kitties, 3 long hairs and 2 shorthairs. I have found a product that although I am not sure if they have it in Singapore, if you can get it is worth the money. I am a veterinary technician and also a petsitter. While petsitting I had a client who used an all natural "homeopathic" powder called Missing Link on her Boxers. Their coats looked great, so I thought if it works good for dogs why not cats? So I started my first kitty on it and she never shed, but I thought maybe it was just her. Then I got a kitten from the shelter and started him on it. After 2 weeks his coat was sleek and shiny too. Then I met my husband and his 2 shorthair cats who USED to shed like crazy too, a few weeks after starting the powder they no longer shed as much either. We recently rescued a stray kitty whose coat was very rough and dull. He has been home for a month now and his coat is improving quite a bit, some due to better nutrition but also I think due to the powder. I highly recommend this product and have to many client of the hospital I work for. I have had quite a few client call me back with nothing but positive responses. If you can get it, it is worth the trouble of finding it. If you do happen to get some it does need to stay in the fridge after opening!!!
