Hi everyone, We have a cat that is probably around a year old now.. Indoor cat, it ran away a few days ago and came back after 3 days, It was fine and everything and then we got a puppy and it never comes out and it hisses if anyone touches or gets near it and it is afraid of the puppy. She is not declawed so if we hold her and try to introduce her to the puppy she freaks out. Anyway of getting them to be friends?

As you probably have found out already, you cannot force a cat to "meet" a new dog, they will have to do it on their own. Your best bet is to keep the dog separated in like the kitchen and or living room, and let your kitty have free run of the rest of the house. That way the kitty does'nt feel uncomfortable, she'll know the dog is there, but the pup won't be able to chase her etc... and they'll be able to look at and smell each other from a safe distance. Your cat is probably pretty scared right now, and restricting the puppy to certain areas will make her feel safe again. Just make sure she is still eating and drinking during her time of stress so she does'nt get ill.
