Hi everyone, I've been looking over these forums and they seem very helpful, so here is my story.

My boyfriend and I live in a small house with one female cat (fixed) that I've had for 8 years. In august we noticed a small cat (possibly a kitten) kept coming around, we'd see her in the yard quite often, but she would take off when we went out. She was SO skinny and sickly and I was worried for her that she didn't have anywhere to live, so I started feeding her and soon enough she moved right onto our back porch. She became very friendly with us and we let her in the house every now and again, her and my cat pretty much stay away from each other, no major conflicts, not best friends, etc.

Fast forward to this week. We noticed a huge cut on her neck and decided to let her in. My boyfriend assumed she was pregnant because let's face it, stray females usually do get pregnant. We haven't let her back out because of this cut, I tried to clean it up a bit and put anti-bac ointment on. We don't want the cut to get infected. But now we've taken notice and are fairly sure she is pregnant, and seems to be getting a lot larger by the day. Before we were sure (last week) I contacted a clinic to see if we could get her fixed, but at this point I think she may be about 2 weeks from birth. We really do not have a lot of money for any of this (which is why we had contacted the clinic), we can't afford vet visits etc. and really have no clue what to expect or do. I am willing to let her have the kittens and keep them in the house until they are old enough to be adopted, but I don't know how to handle any of this. I'm also willing to let an experienced person take her and handle it, and we would take her back afterwards, or she could be put up for adoption also, i just want to help her (and the kittens). I just don't know what to do or who to contact. The lady at the clinic has not contacted me back yet, I think she may have been out of the area this weekend.. If anyone has any advice or anything please let me know. Thank you so much!

Welcome Tricia....it's very sweet of you to care for this stray, however I am concerned that if there is a problem that occurs before, during or after the birth that you would not be able to provide vet care to this cat. Given that she is 2 weeks out from having kittens, I would contact every rescue group to see if they have room to take her in. You can go here:

http://www.petfinder.com/

click on shelter and rescue groups..enter Pennsylvania and it will bring up a list of shelters/rescues in Pennsylvania. You could also explain your situation and state that you are willing to foster this cat as long as the rescue provides vet care...that may also work.

You could also post a message here:

http://forums.petfinder-network.com/

Under Rescue to see if anyone in your area would be willing to foster her. Lots of people who are involved in rescue visit those boards.

Also did you ask the clinic whether you could surrender her to the clinic? Perhaps there is someone there who would be willing to foster her.

I appreciate that you want to help this girl, but we also want to make sure that she gets the vet care that she needs.

Thank you! I will post what I have posted here in the petfinder network website you sent. I have not really been able to get a hold of the clinic again other than her email letting me know she could have the cat spayed this week at 10 dollars. I tried to give her a call but haven't been able to get in touch with her yet, so there really isn't much information I have on that. Also I'm in Bethlehem Pennsylvania if anyone is from the area or knows of anyone/clinics from the area. thanks again!

Unfortunately no updates.

I have been trying to contact the clinic this week and she has not gotten back to me. I'm really unsure what to do. I don't know anyone in this town, and I really don't know my way around other than to get to work and back, and just a few other places, so I'm really at a loss for what to do. I tried to register at that site but have not posted yet, but I will do that right now that I've got some time available to me. Thank you for your concern and help!
