Hi my family and I just brought home a new kitten about 24 hrs ago. Hes quit the little sweety but we are worried. He is about 9 weeks old and all he wants to do is sleep. He also is crying quite a bit. He has yet to eat but he does drink well. He also has thrown up about 6 times since we got him. Slimy bright yellow in color quater size throw ups. He was wormed on march 4th and givin a clean bill of health before we brought him home. Our main concern is that a family had him for a few days before we got him who was quite mean to him. Is this normal kitten behavior? Or is it something we should be concerned about? Just as a side note we did call our emegency vet and they told us there could be a 1000 different things wrong with him and if he is still acting like this call them monday. If anyone could give us any help or tips I would be very greatful. Thank you so much.

If he's throwing up then he does sound sick.

You did the best thing by calling the emergency vet, but maybe call another for a second opinion if you are still worried?

Kittens can get dehydrated quickly so oinch the scruff of his neck to check, if it doesent ping back he's dehydrated and needs vet care.

This little one sounds like he needs a vet ASAP.
You need to get some food in him as well.
If all else fails, try warming some stinky canned kitten food, or chicken or turkey (meat ONLY) babyfood and offering it to him.

Yes, these symptoms are a sign of a medical emergency. He must go to the emergency vet ASAP. To be perfectly honest, the symptoms are very suggestive of panleukopenia (distemper), and if this is what he has then immediate medical treatment is his only chance for survival. Please hurry.

Definately, the kitty needs to go to the vet. Our cat was vomitting that kind of stuff too and she wasn't eating..and it turned out she was very dehydrated..She needed like 3 days of IV to make her better!!

Thank you all for your help. Because of you I got my little Freddy to the vets but unfortunatly there was nothing they could do. It seems he had brain damage that was slowly shuting his system down. There was nothing they could do but put him to sleep so he would no longer be in pain. Once again thank you.

Godspeed over Rainbow Bridge, little Freddy. Xune, welcome to TCS, and I am very sorry that we met in this forum. You provided an excellent home for Freddy, and I hope that someday you will be able to give another kitten or two, the same opportunities that you gave Freddy, with much happier results.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Perhaps he was sent to you to insure his final memories would be of your love and care. He was a sweet little baby boy and I'm sure your heart is breaking. Now he is chasing sunbeams and rainbows with all the other little ones.
