My Dearest Ben is almost 3 years old and was neutered at 8 months. Suddenly he keeps dreaming he is a TOM cat and kneads his bed and then tries to mate IT and my other cats. THEY are getting fed up and HE is confused. Vet just laughs!

WhY is he doing this and how can I stop it? I feel so sorry for him as he has no idea either!

One of my 2 year old boys likes to hump fuzzy blankets. It's really funny. I sear he thinks he's a dog.

We have a large stuffed teddy bear that Oliver likes to put the moves on. He doesn't hump it, but he likes to climb on top of it and knead it for a loooong time. It's a very special relationship

Dexter occasionally gets a far away look in his eyes, grabs little Sadie by the neck and attempts to do the Tom Cat dance. She turns around and bops him with her paw and makes a run for it. He chases her all over the place. Finally he forgets about it for a few days until it happens all over again.

It's harmless unless there is a urinary tract infection that is causing this behavior.

I think that mating behavior for male cats is programed into their brain and for some kitties, it never goes completely away.

I call Dexter my big Tom when he does that.

You don't want to know what Sadie calls him.

I think Molly has the same names for Tibby!

Tibby has been neutered from an early age and still 'makes sweet lovin' on a regular basis!

He tends to prefer woolen clothing that I have been wearing, but he's also partial to having a go at Molly!
He's also had a jolly good go at my arm, leg, head....

There's not much you can do about it, but if they are doing it somewhere you really don't want them to try (ie my head whilst sleeping) pick them up and place them on something more suitable!

I'm going to regret admitting that, aren't I?!!

It was seriously such a shock to wake up with Tibby all over my head - legs akimbo attempting to grasp the sides of my head, mouthing my hair and pummeling my head!

Thanks, all of you! I was so worried there was something wrong with my boy. He looks so confused and embarressed.

He IS VERY Macho! He is the kind - if he were human - that would be a rough tough - I can do it myself- kind of man. IN his heart however he is a marshmellow! He was my first Kitten (after my precious late Corkie) and he just is kind of special!

He HAS gone through a LOT in the past 2 years though. FIRST he lost his best friend, my BiG Poodls (don't know if you can see my avatar but our photo is in my profile) Schatzi, and then the dog next door he enjoyed, and a cat named YOU who he was f riends with and a dog named Eddie he liked, and then just a year, the 21st of this month, we BOTH lost my precious Corkie girl.

Anytime he hears a big dog bark or sees a big BLACK (or almost black) dog he has to stop and study it. I can tell he thinks it might be his pal Schatzi! Poor baby!
