Hi! I'm UptownCat, I'm in the land of the forgotton hippies (new mexico) and I've always had cats, ALWAYS. But when I moved into my apartment from home with my parents they insisted on keeping my cat because "he liked it there." as much as I hate to admit it, he does. So I was aching for a pet. I almost got a pet rabbit until a stray little cat came into my life. Well not little, infact, HUGE. He would always run away from everyone at work, a sharp eyed maine coon with nothing to loose. I tried feeding him IAMS but he'd never eat it, and I couldnt even get him to drink water from a bowl. until one day.... I set out a bowl of sunflower seeds... (WHAT?!
) and he loved them. and from then on he ate the real cat food and drank water, and the best part of my day was after work when I got to see him, I even came to work on days off to see him. One day he was gone
. and I cried because I thought he'd been hit by a car, or eaten by a hawk (which happens a lot out here, scary huh?). I work at a radio station, and a few days went by and we were having our pet of the week segment (for the local shelters) and guess who they brought, I WAS EXTATIC
to say the least. One of the hosts had called the pound. The cat instantly recognized me and jumped up into my arms (which was a big first) and would let go. I adopted him right there at the station and took him home.... wow that was a long story... but anyways, I love him so much and I'm glad I found this website with so many cat lovers, because the people at work just dont understand "even his hairballs are cute!"
