Sometimes my furbabies (especially Poodle Kitty) will just stare at part of the room. I'll turn around and there's nothing there, but they'll keep on staring like there's a spirit, or a dead body, or...
Sometimes they'll even start softly growling.

Creepy, especially since I'm already convinced my house is haunted.

Mine don't do that (well, except Tubby, but he just gazes blankly off into space—I suspect because he's sort of a dim bulb). I'd find it a bit creepy if they did, though.

Harley will stare at the ceiling like there is something there - but of course there isn't - sometimes it freaks me out - especially when I'm home alone!

Kitters does that, often! Like she's staring off into space sometimes then other times it's like somethings there! I try to find whatever it is she thinks she see's but only got lucky doing that once when she found a centipede! EWE!!!

All kitties do that.
It doesn't bother me in the least, but I don't believe in ghosts, and I guess they don't believe in me because I've never seen one.

Some people believe that animals, especially dogs, are sentive to ghosts and spirit type things.(Same with small kids) I find myself very interested in this. Why are you convinced your house is haunted?

All kits get into staring contests with the walls sometimes. lol It really is kind of creepy, but it's cute at the same time.
Though I can see how it would be expecially creepy if you suspect your house is haunted.

Mine do that, too!! It's freaky wierd when they do it. Miss Kitty is especially bad about it...she'll sit there and stare at you for 10-15 minutes without looking away.

Well, besides the popular ghostly theories, yes, I think there's some bizzarro gene in cats that make them stare at nothingness and like it. Or they think it's cool to trick us into believeing there's something there when there really isn't. Their version of April Fools but every single day.

"Hey, watch this! I'll stare at the wall and see if the st00pid human will come over to look at nothing with me." .... "Got 'em!"

Ours will oftentimes look out the window and have a combination purposeful blank stare along with the appearance of stupidity.

I have developed a special word describing this behavior, which I have been trying to popularize for many years now.... "replexive."

Perplexed + Reflect = Replexive.

Okay, it may sound stupid, but...
when my grandma passed away, we brought a lot of her furniture into our home, including the bed she died in. The very same night we got the furniture I heard a LOT of odd sounds, and I woke up to find several of my posters and pictures on my wall torn down. Ever since then, just odd little things have happened, books falling off the shelves, doors randomly shutting, etc. I try not to think about it, I get freaked out real easily.

I've totally watched a lot of shows about hauntings and stuff and that sounds soooo much like the stuff I've seen and read about. I too believed that my old place was a little special..haha that is why I moved.
It is easy to be paraniod though, have you ever considered having someone, like from a church or something come check it out?

I have, but the rest of my family thinks I'm just crazy.
I don't think there is anything evil, just a little scary.

You're probably right. I've been watching too much Ghost Whisperer or something

Under the cats, mostly.
well I know for a fact that this apartment isn't aunted - but Tosca just drifts off into her little innerspace more often than I care to count! I think they all do it. It's a wind up
I bet! I like the whole "Lets see if that stupid human will stare too" theory!
