My poor Layla was eating her wet food and just turned to the side and threw up!!

I have been transitioning both girls to a wet food diet. I have been taking slow; feeding 75% dry to 25% wet for a week in a half, then I moved up to 50% dry and 50% wet yesterday. I thought it was a good time because their poops were hardening. Did I rush it??? Could it be the flavor??

Stevie did not finish her food; I thought she was on a break and then when Layla threw up I threw the food out.

I feel so bad now!!! She seems to be fine, but should I be concerned or do you think I just rushed the transition?

Thanks!

What brand are you feeding them? You might want to try a few different brands until you find one that sit well with their tummies.

I am using Nutro Complete Adult Pouches and this was the first time I gave them the chicken flavor.

I am going to go back to 75% dry/25% wet for another week or so. I think a week in half just was not enough. But, Layla does eat very fast so maybe that had something to do with it as well!

Thanks!!

So you are switching them completly to wet food? I feed mine wet food, but theres always a bowl of dry food too. I think this keeps a good balance with their tums. BTW how old are they?
One thing to watch out for with the nutro pouches: I've noticed once or twice when buying them, one pouch was puffier than the other
I think maybe it was exposed to heat or something and made it swell? Anyway I did'nt buy it- they also have exp. dates at the bottom- make sure there fresh

I want to get them to 75% wet/25% dry. So, I started transitioning at 25% wet/75% dry.

The shelter told me they are about one and half, but who really knows??

I checked the expiration dates and they are all good. I also bought these right out of the box it was shipped to the pet store in......

Do think going back to 25% wet/75% dry is the right move?

Thanks!!

I guess if you think about it thats what mine get 75% wet 25% dry--- they seem pretty ok with it tummy wise. Chichi has always had a sensative tummy and sometimes she just throws up
yours might be sensative too. Do you give them catnip? That helps aid in the digestion
and they love it anyways! I don't think you should neccesarily switch them back, just give it a little more time and see. It could be the chicken flavor? maybe it was too rich for them
was that the only time she threw up?

I do not give them catnip but have been considering it. How do you give your cats catnip? I assume you don't mean playing with a toy.

This was the only time she threw up. So, I think it may be the chicken. Stevie did not finish her portion either.

Furthermore, I just fed them the same amount as last night and both girls enjoyed it thoroughly! So, I will stick with 50% wet/50% dry for another week or so. Hopefully last night was just because of the chicken and I will be up 25% dry/75% wet on about 2 weeks!!

Thank you so much for your help!!
