There's a pretty little ginger cat that seems to live in the woods behind my house. I see him at least twice a week, sometimes he's on the fence every day for a week or two. I can't tell if he's feral or stray but he is quite thin and is very wary. A few times I've managed to call him over to me and he's got quite close and then ran off again. My cat hates him though and will chase him whenever she sees him. She had a bad experience of being bullied by another cat at my old house (he had 3 legs and had to sit down to fight but was a nightmare!) and I think she is trying to scare him off. Sometimes though he sits on the shed roof and she sits on the table outside and they just ignore each other. I'm tempted to start feeding him but I don't know if that's a good idea or not, I find it very hard to see him looking so painfully thin and I'm certain he's either lost or wild. What do you think I should do?

if your going to start feeding him its best to get him vet checked (they can look for a microchip) and neutered.

Else if u feed him but dont neuter you are building his strength up to procreate further

Zen....I would borrow a humane trap and try to trap this guy and get him into the vet. The vet can check on his health and whether he is neutered or not...if he is not neutered, I would have him neutered and then you can start feeding him if he does not have a home.

Thanks guys that's sensible advice, I've put posters up around here trying to find out if he's just lost but nobody has got in touch. I'll make one last ditch attempt to find out if anyone knows where he came from and if not, I'll try to get him to a vet.
