Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, member of hip-hop R&B group TLC, was killed in a car accident Thursday in Honduras, her record label reported early Friday.

Lopes was on vacation, said TLC manager Bill Diggins. He received a phone call about 11 p.m. Thursday from authorities in Honduras, reporting the accident.

She would have turned 31 next month, according to her website.

Although I was never a big fan of TLC, I really liked some of their songs. I think they did a lot to advance women in the music industry, especially in the hip hop genre.

I guess no matter who it is that goes before their time, in their prime, it is a sobering piece of news.

I didn't really listen to their music, either, but it is sad news
It seems like so many young singers are dying in automobile/plane accidents nowadays.

I heard that on the radio this morning. That is such sad news.
I used to listen to TLC all the time when I was younger.
