I made the mistake of giving some guy my number so we could hang out sometime.

This was yesterday around 11pm.

So far, he has called me 23 times.
Should I wait to see if he stops? or should i just go ahead and change the number?

Truth be told, I'm a little scared. He knows which building I live in.

23 times!!!

If you change your number he might come lookign for you. best just ignore him or get a male friend/relative to tell him straight.

I'd be afraid too. Is there any way that you can block his number?

If not, I would change it as soon as you can, only so you feel safe and comfortable. I know its free to change your number here, well- on cell phone's anyways.

Keep your doors locked!

but if she changes her number and he's a weirdo then i'd be worried that he would try and seek her out.

Make it clear that you are not interested and keep a record of his calls incase you wanna contact the police later.

The count is up to 24 now.
*sigh* i've got a friend who works for my service provider. Think I'll give him a call.
What a pain. now I'll have to let everyone know what my new number is.

Very true!

When you met him, did he seem really weird? Or have you talked to him since you met him?

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this!

In his state of mind he could think that there was a problem with your phone or it had been cut off etc not think that you have changed your number and want nothig more to do with him.

maybe have a word with your local police just in case, that way they can keep an eye out when patrolling your area.

I'm sure he'll get bored and stop soon.

Have you answered the phone to him yet?

I did answer it once. He called last night and asked if I wanted to do something this morning. I said no because I had class, but I'd talk to him later.

He started calling again at 7am and hasn't stopped since. I would have answered at first.. but SURPRISE! I was in class, like I said. He called about 8 times before I got home to check my phone. I was naturally creeped out so I didnt call him back. At first he was leaving messages asking if I wanted to hang out at specific times, but now he's just started leave excerpts of bad R&B songs on my voicemail. Smoooth.

He seemed really normal and friendly last night! I always get stuck in weird situations like this. I must give off some psycho attracting vibe :-/

Can you block his number? I dial *60 then enter the number to block, not sure if it's the same in the US.

Do any of your friends know him?

I'd answer and tell him that you are no longer interested in him, and if he continues to call you excessively, you will call the authorities!

Before trying to change my phone number. I would just tell him in a nice way that your not interested in dating or hanging out! Maybe a white lie like you've gotten back together with your old boyfriend so sorry your not availble and your boyfriends the jealous type so please don't call anymore.? Then if he still continues to call change your number.

Yeah you guys are right.. I guess I should answer the next time he calls me and tell him I'm not interested.

I'm such a wimp... I'll try!

but I AM going to go downstairs and take my number off the mailbox.

Movin' on up!
Do you have caller ID? If not, keep a log of every time he calls and make a note of the time. I work for a phone company and we have a Nuisance Call Bureau that deals with this type of situation. Contact your provider and find out if they have such an office.

That many calls, in such a short period of time, constitutes harrassment and/or stalking. He needs to be stopped, before this escalates. Using the telephine to harass people is against the law. This guy could lose his phone service over this.
