Frankie is our rescue/foster kitty going to Sharky eventually. She has what may be a small hernia that our vet recommended be fixed, and we wanted to send her off to her new home all taken care of...so...she has surgery this week. It is the first time I've had a cat have this kind of surgery and I'm a bit nervous for her...I hate putting cats through any kind of surgery

So...think good thoughts for her on Thursday, please.

She is making it very, very hard - we will be very sad when she is gone to her new home.

Tonight she gave Patrick a firm bath, even though he wasn't interested (
) holding him down by one paw and firmly cleaning his hip/upper tail. She likes to nap near him

She is by far one of the brightest cats I've seen in many years (besides my guys!)...quickly figures everything out, and has finally trained me successfully that she wishes wet food first thing in the am, thank you very much! And she loves the camera...soon as she sees it out, she begins posing

Frankie sounds like she has a wonderful character!
I can imagine how difficult it must be to send her to her new home!

You do and have done wonderful work with her and you'll both remember eachother forever!

I suspect that Patrick will miss his baths when Frankie goes to his forever home.
He will be in my thoughts and prayers for an excellent surgical outcome.

I will be watching for your updates Pat.

I owe you an apology Pat.

I got careless & thought because of her name that Frankie was a boy.
After re-reading the posts here I came to my senses.
You will be in my prayers sweet Frankie.

Sharky, I've sent you a long email. For all those who sent best wishes, thank you. Frankie had a spay incision hernia, with fortunately only a bit of fat protruding through that hernia.

Unfortunately, her BUN was abnormal, as is her urine specific gravity. We will be retesting her (doing more extensive labs) in two weeks, when she goes in for her stitches to be removed. Her creatinine was normal, so I am hoping perhaps we will find the bun was off due to her history of recent starvation (not sure that is a possible explanation - will be researching this and discussing it with our vet).

We are picking her up soon...and I also (taking a deep breath) am announcing that we've realized that Frankie is here to stay. We love her very, very much and she loves & is bonded to us. She has come to trust us during the several months she has been with us (she has trust issues, we assume from either abuse or from her experiences outside when she was starving) and I can not see asking her to understand being asked to adjust to another new home.
