We recently fostered a mom cat and her kittens which mom started out as stray we brought into our home then a month later she had babies.Afetr she had the babies we kept them all until they were 10 1/2 weeks old and everyone got adopted. The problem is that we miss them SOOOOOO much it is driving us crazy. We literally sit and cry about them almost everyday ( even though it has only been almost a week they've been gone). Is this normal and did we make the right decision???

Most fosters get attached to the kittens....it is normal and yes, unless you wanted a housefull of cats..it was the right thing to do. Did you have the mom cat spayed?? Is she still with you?? You could always get in touch with one of the local rescue groups and see if you could foster another pregnant cat. I know some people who only foster pregnant cats so that they get to enjoy the "kitten" experience all summer long.

I live in the No. Va area near DC.
KittyCity: I am with you - I will shortly have 3 newbie kits from my
very feral Momma Cat, Zazou. I am definitely attached to her, and will adore having the kittens, but I know that as a feral, its in her best interest to go back where she came from, since finding a home for her would be tough to impossible with her being so feral and shy/wild.

Even though she's lovely... I have 3, so I can't keep her!

Just know the kits are doing well in new homes, that hopefully they were spay / neutered BEFORE they went to homes (mine are going to be done that way) so there's no chance of accidental breeding from them. They will have
great lives, and you've saved countless cats from being born into
misery and a short brutally hard life on the streets.

You are a kitty angel!!! And just remember - kittens grow up into cats, so do you REALLY want 3 more cats? LOL!
