hi, i just spayed my cat last week. Since I brought her back she has been eating once or twice a day.She is not willing to play anymore and the only thing she does is sleep. She looks a little bit depresed. The first two days i thought this was normal because of the surgery. There is no sign of infection in the scar.It has been a week now, is this behavior normal,if it is, how long does last?ThanX

Call the vet, now. There could be a problem, and it's apparently not going away. It's not normal beyond 1-2 days for her to be down.

How old is she? I got Mama fixed when she was a little over a year old and she was down and moppy for a while. The first day back was really exhausting for her but she was back to her normal self after a few days. How is she acting depressed? Sometimes surgury or illness brings out other health problems. For instance, Otis broke his leg and after 3 weeks of having his cast changed (once or twice a week) he became extremely sick and almost died but we never did find the cause of it. He started acting really depressed and slept a lot and started hunching over his water bowl. Hope things work get better...

My female cats took a little bit longer to heal than the males, especially the mother cat. (I had 5 spayed/neutered in one day-4 kittens and the mother)

The boys bounced back very quickly. The female surgery is more invasive so it's not uncommon for a female to lounge around more after the spay. If you have concerns, you should just call the vet and see if they think she needs seen. That is always the best way to go, IMO.

My best guess would just be because she's a little older than most cats are when they're spayed. Like I mentioned, my Mama had a harder time healing and she was only a little over a year old. Hope she's still improving!
