How do you guys feel on your first day of new jobs? ? I get SOOO nervous, mostly because I'm the new kid on the block, don't know anyone, have a whole new job to learn, etc..........am I alone in this?

I got really super nervous when I started here 2 years ago! I didn't know what to wear, and I got all nervous that I was gonna suck at the job!
I got really nervous before my first day here. The first few weeks are awful for me! Now its great.

I actually have the most trouble pulling into the parking lot on my first day at a new job. I just want to keep going straight...and go back home to safe ground! Silly, I know, but the initial steps are so difficult.

I'm doing work experience at various companies to gain some references/experience in journalism.
Not only do i get to be the new kid, I'm not getting paid, am often treated like a dogs body and am treated like i am slightly retarded to boot!
But on the plus side, people get overly excited when i accomplish small tasks such as photocopying, and dam sight nearly fainted when i showed them i could work the scanner!

Thanks guys.........no, actually, I"m not starting a new job. I was talking to my brother in law who just moved to TN and started a new job. He says he wasn't nervous, etc and I told him I practically hyperventalate before starting a job. I know what you mean about the hardest part is pulling in the parking lot of the business.........
I didn't realise how nervous I was until I start here (6 months ago). What's worse -for my ego- I was nervous in front of a 20 year old that I was essentially taking over.
He helped though...he was an intern here and wanted to come back this summer. I think he got told no since I was hired on full time, so he was telling me information that was definitely wrong (setting me up for failure). I showed him! LOL
