I don't remember what sleep is anymore! Between a 13 month old who doesn't like to sleep, a cat who likes attention at night and severe pain from this pregnancy (both Pelvic Girdle Pain and Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction) I don't get more then 2 hours of sleep each night. I am exhausted and there is nothing I can do about. By the end of the day at work I am so tired I am dizzy. Still have to work, however. I haven't worked long enough yet from my last pregnancy to qualify for maternity/parental benefits again!

Tell me it gets better!

I miss my sleep! I used to be able to stay in bed and sleep no matter what! 11, 12 o'clock and the hubby would check to make sure I was still alive. 20 years! Urgh!

Anyone want to buy a kid or 2? Just joking - I wouldn't trade them in for all the sleep in the world!

Well Ady, I would just pack them off and send them to a grandparent for a couple of weeks in the summer so you'll get your much needed sleep! That's why they invented grandmas and grandpas!

Oh dear

Yes, I would ship them off to the Grandparents for a while and try to get some much needed rest.

You poor thing! I hope the pregnancy goes well for you.

My kids are 12 months apart, and, in my experience, it gets a lot better after the second birth. You poor thing.

I wondered why my grandchildren spent so much time at our house

I don't have any children myself but I feel for you!

When I hear about all the lack of sleep and whatnot it makes me nervous about having kids of my own one day

My kids are all 4 to 7 years apart! So I had a helper by the time the next baby came along!

Just a little hint, if your dh sleeps harder than you, just give him a good nudge when you hear the baby wake up, and then Daddy can do at least half of the night time duty! If you are pregnant, you need your sleep to be able to stay healthy. Even if you only sleep for a few hours at a time, resting in bed or in a comfy chair while your hubby gets the baby will let you feel more rested.

I went back to work after my fourth baby, and at age 37 was very tired by work and baby care. DH sleeps like the dead, so I would nudge him to do baby care. And I was breastfeeding! So he would go get Shane, and bring him to me to nurse, then change him and put him back in bed! It sounds a little crazy...but it is the only way I survived the first few months back at work. He had to do part of the night time work! Maybe it wasn't half the time...but I wasn't pregnant, like you!

Also ask him to give you back rubs before bed...that will help you sleep a little longer, too.

My sister had a lot of pain with her second pregnancy...the baby was just too big for her to carry, although the delivery went just fine! And although Annie was a chubby fat little baby and toddler, she is a gorgeous slim adult now!

Thanks everyone. I got about 4 hours last night. Unfortunately the granparents aren't much help. My inlaws are both elderly and unwell (can't even change a diaper), although they dote on Kevin. My parents live out of town. They moved to be closer to my sister and her kids - my nieces are my mom's end all and be all of existance - don't get me started. I am lucky if my son see's my parents once a month and then for only a couple of hours. My hubby is great with Kevin, unfortunately, he only wants mommy at night. If I can get to him quickly, he falls back asleep quickly, but daddy=play! It doesn't help that Kevin is major teething right now - 3 teeth coming in at once.
