I have so many different decorating styles, I change the look of my rooms quite often. I would post pictures but I don't have that much time right now, they are in another thread here somewhere though. At the moment, I have a lot of reds, burgundys, and purples in the living room, I love rich bold colors, but now that it will be warming up soon I will be changing it to lighter colors. My bedroom is turquoise satin and white lace right now and my bathroom is purple and floral, kitchen is sort of a country style with plaids and lots of knicknacks. I favor the eclectic and romantic styles.

Your apartment is decorated so well! It reminds me of a better-decorated version of the apartment I lived in my senior year of college, all by myself- no roomates, no Ian, just me and Oliver! It was fun- the first and last time I lived by myself.

Our house was built in '99, so its pretty updated. Stainless steel appliances/granite in the kitchen. Here's a few pictures from right after we moved in, so there's still stuff all over the place, but gives you some idea:

Movin' on up!
Shabby chic here. My sofa is purple overstuffed canvas and my love seat is purple tweed (both currently coverd with throws and blankets, as the dogs sleep on them.)

My coffee table, TV cart and nightstand all came from thrift stores and nothing cost over $20. I DID splurge on a queen-sized metal canopy bed but, mattress, box spring AND frame were only $300 total.

My walls are hung with a mixture of family pictures, Mae West posters and movie stills, cat and dog pictures and posters. Knickknacks include cat, dog and shoe figurines. I also have a large number of stuffed animals, scattered about the house.

I think my look would probably be called "country" or "cottage"...what do you think?

I like bold colors as long as they have a lot of white or light along with them. I`m not an elegant or fancy person at all...although I do have friends who are and I love to help them decorate too.

I just moved to my house in July. Hubby loves black, which I'm weaning him off though he doesn't know it yet. We have a lot of natural and unnatural wood. The living room was carpeting in a yuckybrown (see the rug under suzie in my sig) and we pulled it up to reveal this floor! BTW I love my new area rug that zakk is on.

Eventually we paint the walls in their light purple, but for now they are wood paneling. I have a black couch in that room and wood furniture, plus a lot of knick knacks.

The kitchen is brand new, and has pine cabinets with green accents. I am pretty happy with it, and have a stawberry theme- curtain rug, decor shelves. I also have some old creamers displayed and some retro stuff in there. Hubby's bathroom has a nautical theme going on right now. The dining room has real wood paneling, the only decor is mugs hanging on the walls.

My bedroom has a 4 post bed and green-blue carpeting that I picked out. My bathroom has blue accents- toilet and sink. VERY annoying to clean. The other rooms are pretty boring- green carpets. I like the one in the computer room, it has a nice pattern, we replaced the original.

The basement is hubby's. He has the following collections displayed down there: star trek, swords, chess boards, DVDS, CDs, WWE, and Iron Maiden stuff. He also has his collection of moving toys- talking petie parrot, jumping elmo, dancing hamsters, etc. Very man town.

I have snoopy stuff displayed, and we have a lot of kitty accent stuff all over, plus tons of books and things I've picked up in my travels.
It's a work in progress- my mom and aunt are helping me make curtains- haven't hung anything up yet!

Mine is pretty basic Nordic style: lots of light colors and unpainted wood, modern. My wall art is mainly abstract and my sister's works.

I want to paint in here SO bad, the bland white walls are getting to me!

Karen, I think that yellow would look really great in there, I love your kitchen!
I would check with your landlord to find out what he/she thinks about you painting the walls (if you haven't all ready). There is some sort of law here that apartment complex owners must paint in between tenants. I would think that if you ask about painting it the worst they would say is that you must paint it white again before moving out or at the very least put a coat of kilz over it. Might be worth checking in to
We were in our apartment over 3 years before buying our house. White walls do become "bland".

Fwan....they get really, really soft after they've been washed a couple times...I love them!

Hmmm....I might have to check into that!

The white walls get so dull and blah! We've only been there a year, but still, I want some COLOR!

Kind of a mix: Terra cotta tile throughout, so it's kind of country cottage style. Mixes of French accents that we picked up in Province on a recent trip, Cape Cod style in one bedroom, and kind of tropical in the rest of the house with palm tree and parrot prints on the wall...I like deep colors on the walls, as well...

I would definately ask then, and especially since you have been there a year. I say that because I am not sure how your lease runs, but ours was year to year. We never gave them any problems and paid our rent on time so they would have been happy to allow up to paint the walls. That meant we weren't moving
We are terrible at painting and absolutely hate it, so we would have never volunteered.
You should have seen us paining our house when we moved in. My fiance's friend would stop by and listen to us moan and groan about painting our bedroom. The previous owners had it bright pink! It took 1 coat of Kilz and 2 coats of white paint to cover up. We were so sick of painting that we decided that was all we were doing. His friend decided to "help" us by going to each room in the house and spreading paint over parts of the walls so we were forced to continue painting
We took the easy way out and painted most everything white and now I am ready for new colors..... I am just not looking forward to doing it.

Hm lets see...

Medieval castle meets jousting tournament meets bronx zoo meets sea world.

Yep, that's about right.
