Can anyone tell me if you feed this and what you think of this feed?

Is it good?

Is it bad?

Has it done good things for your pets?

Thanks.

I like it well enough. I think they're really a dog company that's dabbling in cat food, though.

I would definitely feed other brands of canned food. Solid Gold is fine but their stuff is pretty much pure tuna or chicken and would lead to extreme pickiness if it's the only canned food they get. They can have it, of course, but should get other brands too.

I feed Solid Gold canned (tuna), because it's one of the few canned foods Jamie really likes, but along with other brands. I use the dry food (lamb) occasionally, too. Jamie insists on a lot of variety.

I think it's pretty pricey for what you get. Aside from the garlic, it's better than a lot of stuff, but there's stuff better than Solid Gold that also costs less.

Twitch absolutely LOVES the Solid Gold belnded tuna. It is the only thing that she & Lily can eat an entire 5 oz(or more) can of in one meal. I was very impressed with it, but only give it to the kitties once a week as I don't want that to be the only thing they will eat.

I have fed my 3 full grown cats Solid Gold dry food for 4 years and they absolutely love it
I pay $25.00 US dollars out the door for the 15 pound bag and it last about 5 weeks
No wet food for my cats. I don't think that is alot of money to care for something that you love. The company has been making all natural pet foods for over 30 years
How many companys can brag that? I highly recommend this food

Sg makes very good dog food (Barking at the Moon, their new brand, especially - comparable to Innova EVO and less pricey - my dog LOVES it and her behavior/concentration has never been better - high protein/low carb evidently is good for hyperactivity, etc)

But their cats food is probly between medium and medium-high quality.

I would recommend Innova EVO - I think its the closest kibble to a "real cat's" diet, ie very high protein and very low carbs....and every single cat I know who has tried it gobbles it up like a storm

my babies are eating the solid gold now. and doing really well on it. I find it more affordable than some "better" ones. and everyone eats it. which is a challange for me.

I just purchased the Solid Gold tuna for my kittens and they LOVED it. Really, they devoured it in a matter of minutes. Their usual wet cat food is Merricks (which they love too). I think the Solid Gold is going to end up being a treat for them (maybe once/twice a week) since it is pricier than the Merricks (I paid US$1.45 for one can of Solid Gold vs. $0.79 for one can of Merricks). Even though they won't get it as often, Solid Gold will definitely become a part of their diet.

I switched to Innova and the cats really do gobble it up! And they seem to poo less than they did on Eukanuba Natural Choice. The only downside is that their fur doesn't seem to be as silky anymore.

Hmmm I thought Evo was high in Omega 3s... As we spend a lot of time petting our kitty, I've been looking forward to the time when her coat will be silky and full (she was a malnourished stray only a few weeks back). I'm looking for the "healthiest" food for her and something that would really help her coat....

I went to our local "professional" pet supply place and they gave me some samples to try. Luckily, our kitty pretty much likes everything - I think she's still just very happy being fed daily (not to mention all the other perks inherent with being indoors with a loving family as it snows and rains outside....)

I noticed that the pet supply place had omega 3 salmon juice that could be added to the food. I was thinking about that, but would rather give her the right food and avoid the hassle. Thoughts??????

btw - I searched the website yesterday as I was thinking about making kitty food - searched on cat liver pate and found some interesting recipes. But, don't have any time to try them out now....

evo is high but you need a balence /ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 .. each cat is different ... Kandie did well with 3.4% omega six and less than a % omega 3

Zoey does best on a 4.2/1 ratio ...

I use olive oil when needed ... salmon oil has botrh 6 and 3 fatty acids so you could try that... Do you feed wet food ?? I find that is an easy way to add some fatty acids... multiple the amount on the can by 3.5-4 to get the dry matter leval

Just for the record Sharky........Solid Gold dry food does not have garlic in it any longer
It used to have garlic in the past but I just read my ingredient label and NO garlic is listed
I found an old empty Solid Gold bag from 2003 and garlic was listed. Some time between then and now it was removed just so you know. Solid Gold makes an excellent cat food both dry and wet for a reasonable price compared to many higher priced pet foods
and I highly recommend it as I have been feeding my 3 full grown cats the dry for over 4 years now
