well on vday we adopted a cat from the humane society and long story short she had worms and she is pregnant. i am sooo not happy with petsmart right now. i can get into that later. anyways so she is pregnant and i had her at the vet earlier this week and the vet said max 3 weeks she is due. which at VERY VERY earliest she is 6w (2w to go) bc of the day she was brought into the humane society, which the paperwork was made a little late so i know she was brought in before the 22nd of january. so we have been able to feel movement for a little over a week at least. her nipples are large but her top 2 arent that big yet. when do the top two start to swell up? (how far before she has the babies???) also it seems like the babies have moved to a different position bc now i can feel a baby very easily on the bottom of her belly and like a day or two ago the only thing you could feel was one kicking the bottom of her belly. i am just a very excited nervous first time mother of kittens and i just cant wait for them to get here!!!!!
i know her belly is suppose to "drop" but i have no idea how obvious that is. hrm anyways any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hi and welcome to TCS.

This web site will give you some tips: http://www.cat-pregnancy-report.com/...pregnancy.html

An average feline pregnancy lasts approximately 63 days (9 weeks), although it can last anywhere from 59 to 69 days and still be considered normal. The teats fill up from back to front and all should look 'baggy' around the beginning of week 8. At this stage, the kittens will move around, as they still have lots of room in the uterus. They won't really 'drop' until 4-7 days before the birth.

Welcome....I would contact the Humane Society and let them know that she is pregnant. 1. They need to know that she won't make a spay date and 2. They will probably be able to assist in placing her kittens. It isn't Petsmarts fault...they just provide the facility for rescue groups and shelters to show their animals...the Humane Society is the one you need to get in touch with. Also, it is very important that she is kept indoors only until the kittens are weaned and she is spayed. Most people don't realize that a cat can get pregnant again about a week after giving birth. Good Luck and keep us informed.

BTW...if you would like to PM me the Humane Society name I'll look into their policies. (Don't post it here)

Wow! Congrats, I guess...the agency I was fostering for always spays adults before they are placed. Unfortunately, often Humane Societies are underfunded, and don't want to spend money on an animal they may euthanize if not adopted. So you have saved her life, as well as the kittens by adopting her.

Your best idea for when the kittens will come is from the vet who examined her. If the vet said 2 weeks, that is how long you have! Did you make a nest area yet? Are you feeding her kitten chow? That is best for pregnant cats.

Best of luck with the kittens. Welcome to TCS.

ty! i already talked to the humane society and told them about her pregnancy and the date (to have her fixed) has been bumped back i guess. i called them the day i found out for sure. when i was at the humane society they said that once the cats go to petsmart, they only have someone go to petsmart 2 times a week to check on them and they said petsmart should have called them with problems like her worms or her weight. anyways i was lied to about how long she was there and the papers (i think i stated) have the wrong dates. either way we have already found many potential homes for the kittens
. all of the homes are of people we know personally so we know what kind of homes they will be in. she is a very strict indoor kittie (we do take our other cats outside for walks on a leash but since she is pregnant we dont take her out yet). the vet wasnt sure how far along she was either bc they said it was hard to tell with cats, but they thought in 1.5 - 3w (but i just dont see her getting pg the DAY she was brought into the humane society, that would be ironic though) . ahhh we cant wait to see them! ty again for your help and all the warm welcomes!

btw she has been on kitten food since we found out she was definately pregnant (the 18th of feb) and she has a nesting area but we need to fix it up a bit before the babies actually come (i have felt 3!) she is very young so that is another reason i am paranoid, i am worried she will have a hard time but i have already looked up all the info for when to call the vet during deilivery! ty!
