I'm totally down right now.

After 7-8 months of job searching, my boyfriend got a job a couple of months ago. He just went into work today (after having a lovely experience of having a boil removed) and found out he was laid off.

I'm so upset/angry/etc. He of course is really angry about it. We were just getting even keel again and it was so nice to be able buy things again. Now we'll be right back at square one.

This just stinks. Things were going so well too. He had got a job, I had gotten into a local private university and now this. Talk about living a bi-polar life. Plus because its under 90 days, he doesn't know if he'll be able to claim unemployment. So then EVERYTHING gets depended on me. All the groceries, all the bills...

Oh man, that does suck.

I know how hard job hunting is. I hope your bf gets another one soon. At least he wasn't fired - being laid off doesn't look bad on a resume.

I'm so sorry to hear about this, but you know what, and I'm sure you can't see it now, but things will work out.........in the mean time, break out some icecream and try to relax..........

It's a shame that no job is for certain anymore....

Thanks everyone,

I'm calmer now. The thing that I realised really will stink is since he'll be around more, he's going to eat more at home. This boy eats like a horse. So him being home makes for higher grocery bills.

I'm crossing my fingers that its not 8 months again and at least he was laid off (last time for those that didn't know he had to quit due to medical reasons). Time will only tell though. The good news is that he's getting a letter of rec from his boss, so at least that's a plus in his direction.

Investing in those cup a noodles might really help. They fill even me up and they are on sale often at places like Safeway and City Market for only 25 cents a piece!

Ooo..thanks! we don't have safeway or city market in my area, but I'm sure the local grocery will have it.

Right now I've been doing the Costco thing. It helped the last time. We'd buy 5 lbs of meat (salmon, pork, beef) and then divide it into little baggies. I had gotten sick of going to the grocery store every other day. Now at least a box of 48 granola bars will last him 2-3 days.
