After all the sadness in my health forum thread, I thought I'd tell you about a cute trick I accidentally taught my cat as a little pick-me-up.
When I first rescued Tryon and flew her down to FL to live with me, she was a bit nervous about the whole thing and spent her days living under my bed. So when I'd go into my room to visit her, I'd say "Where'd you go?" in sort of a high pitched baby-talk voice and lay down on the floor next to the bed. Eventually she'd come out and I'd say "There you are!" and give her a good scratching. I ended up doing this a few times per day.
She got more brave as time went on and now rules the whole house
So now, it doesn't matter where in the house she is, all I have to do is stand in my bedroom door and say "Where'd you go?" and she'll come sprinting and trilling and purring from wherever in the house she was hiding. It cracks everyone up and makes it a heck of a lot easier when I need to catch her so I can cart her off to the vet
Anyone else teach their cat tricks?
