Has anyone ever heard of tiny, tiny white slug like things coming out of a cat's behind? They ooze out of him, but suddenly just stopped. We do intend to take our cat (less than one year old) to a vet, but I just want an idea of what this could possibly be until we can get him in!

Thanks for any help!

Are they about the size of a grain of rice? Sounds like tapeworm, I would get them in as soon as you can.

It sounds like you have a parasite for sure. You need to get to a vet right away. I hope you're not thinking of waiting longer. The vet will know exactly what and how much to prescribe after an examination.

Sounds exactly like tapeworms, but it could be some other kind of worm. Make sure you bring a fresh fecal sample with you when you take him in. They'll test it to make sure that's the only thing he has.

If you put him on flea medication, it will prevent it in the future. My vet told me that tapeworms are carried through fleas. You can also put him on one of the meds that covers all the parasites.

I agree its more then likely tape worm segments. You'll need to get some de worming meds from the vets.

Get him to the vet and take a poopy sample with you (they'll need to check it for various worms under a microscope).... could be tape- or roundworm - DO NOT use any over the counter meds from petstores to treat this... a) you dont know for sure what your kitty has and b) the OTC meds can contain harmful ingrediants that can risk your cat's life.... your vet will be able to prescribe the correct medication to get rid of whatever worm is infecting your kitty

Its helpful if the sample is as fresh as possible, but you can also refrigerate one from the night before as cats often don't poop on convienient schedules

Yep, sounds like worms! The vet should be able to give you meds that will clear them up.

Yep sounds like worms to me too.

I worm regularly and when Charlie had his accident on one of his vet visits he started dropping little white pellets like grains of rice. I was horrified
as I worm on a regular basis, the vet advised me that these particular worms were carried in flies and is common in Lanzarote (something that I had not heard of in England) aparently the normal wormer does not treat it so all the cats had to be done with a different wormer.

Both Charlie & Tommy are expert fly catchers.....
