My favorite is creamy white clam chowder, although I do like Manhatten clam chowder too. I make the manhatten clam chowder with the cans from the store and just add a bunch of red potatoes. It is so yummy!

Mmmmm - New England clam chowder is my preference, and I can actually get cans of Campbell's at one store here. I used to make it when I was single, but hubby is allergic to shellfish, so I just buy canned for myself.

I am a New England-style enthusiast. If any restaurant I visit has it on the menu, I have to try it.

I also love the clam in rubber boots!

It appears the New England Clam Chowder is currently winning by a landslide!

I grew up right on the edge of New England border in western CT. I usually eat the white kind, which is okay, but really like the manhattan style, basically b/c i love tomatoes! I've never seen manhattan style on a menu, i've always eaten the progresso brand.

The thicker the better... It is devine in a french bread bowl.. I will eat canned only of it is Progresso. Campbells is yucky. I don't like tomatoes all that much, so I have never tried it.

My fiancee recently did some landscaping for the wife of the founder of Progresso soup. She was so sweet. She fed them lunch and made them stop for "treat" every day at 2.

The best NE clam chowder that I have ever eaten was at the Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach, CA. O M G!! A close 2nd would be a place in Santa Barbara, CA that was on the peniesula north of the pier.

I'd like to try Manhattan style sometime, though.

Never tried Manhattan style. Is it anything like Cioppino?

I love New England style. If you're ever on the Oregon Coast, stop in Newport and eat at Mo's. Best chowder on the west coast!
