I have a 6 month old kitten, hes very active, and playful and everything else a kitten should be. He eats well etc (we feed our cats Nutro Natural Choice Kitten and Adult, and Felix and Hilife kitten wet), but recently I have noticed that he has started to get tiny flakes of dandruff on his coat.

Checking through his fur, it seems his skin is rather dry, and he has a powdery dandruff throughout - its not too bad though, you can just see a few dots of the stuff on his coat.

Can anyone recommend any food that we can put him on to help this? About a month ago, he also had a couple of days where he was throwing up quite badly, and he seems more sensitive to food in general than his siblings (he used to vomit around once a month before that) - could his food sensitivity be related to his skin condition?

Anyone have experience with cat dandruff?

Thanks!

Hi - I have checked through other threads, so I have a few things to try - can I just buy a big bottle of fish oil and add a teaspoon or so to their wet food every morning? The others dont seem to need it - should I feed him separately?

Also, is Olive oil a suitable alternative? (its easier to get hold of and cheaper for 5 cats!)

Finally, could the food sensitivity be linked to his dandruff? Ive been thinking about trying Eagle Pack - maybe this would be better than Nutro?

How long has kitty been on the nutro?? if it is less than three months then the dandruff is the old food coming out...

I use olive oil and many high end foods use olive or sunflower( bloody expensive) for the coat properties... Eagle pack wet is good I wont use or touch most of the drys due to many vets( conventional and holistic) telling me some ingrediants are?? able be feed to dog s and cats... jmho
